This morning I woke up with the most incredible urge to go to a coffee shop, drink a White Russian (yes, drink booze at a coffee shop, it's how we do it in AZ), and have a smoke. I was craving one BADLY. And maybe some shots would be nice too . . . mmmm, forbidden things.
Any other preggos have these types of urges? I only smoked for 6 months after my brother died back in 2003 (and quit when I met Dustin b/c he was addicted to smoking and didn't want to see me get addicted). I would never grab one & haven't since then b/c Dustin quit cold turkey in 2004 and I couldn't do that to him, (and duh I am pregnant), but I SO want one. *Sigh* Too bad they are so bad for you, and make you smell like an ashtray. It's a shame really. Maybe I should get some of those bubblegum ones.

I used to crave coke and I did drink a couple but I would make the bottle last me a week.
But since you're due any day now, I'm taking everything as a sign.

AHHHH Michelle - yes girl - I am over it and wanting things I shouldn't have. I almost broke down on Friday night and got real ice cream bars....but I gave in and got the sugar free carb counter ones (plus DH was standing there saying, "I can't believe you're going to do this - this is stupid etc. etc.") then my son yelled "I gotta poop" right in the middle of the grocery store and started running to the bathroom and cut a guy off who was also making his way into the bathroom and turned to him and said "hold my money, I'm poopin'" (he had some coins we had given him for being good at dinner). DH went running after him to the bathroom and I stood there alone feeling like a bad mother cause I wasn't running to the bathroom to help with the poopy event and an even worse mother for the thought of about to be pumping high sugar sweets into my diabetic body which is holding my baby.....ahhhh so I didn't do it. But I want to bad....I want cake, donuts, candy, etc. and nothing sugar free - I want the real stuff!
Oh and I want booze too but with DH's issues and how well he's doing right now I don't even go there

I'm not a big drinker, but my gosh, you have noooo idea how badly I wanted a beer and a shot of Patron when I was pregnant It's because you know that you CAN'T. haha.
Seriously....after he's born....one evening after he falls asleep.....sit out on your patio with Dustin and have a nice cold one. You deserve it, and don't stress about one beer making it into your milk

I craved beer! I eventually broke down and stuck my finger in one and then wiped a little on my lip. It helped a little.

I have nights every so often where I really CRAVE a glass of wine or a good beer. Usually if it's really nice out and Jer and I are sitting outside... He'll be drinking a beer while I'm sitting there with some **** juice or water.
I do usually sniff his beer, though. Yes, I'm a freak like that. He drinks the really yummy stuff (not Miller Lite and that crud), so it smells reaaaallllllly good! I've even had a teeeeeeny tiny sip a few times (only recently, not in the first tri), but I'm talking like 1/2 tsp here. lol. I'd just hold it in my mouth for like a minute and enjoy it.
I know it's okay to actually drink a small glass or wine or beer later in pregnancy since everything is formed, I just don't want to just in case...

i'm sorry you are craving things you can't have. Hopefully it will go away soon because you'll have Jack! As far as having a cold one after he's born, according to one of the midwives that used to come to BRU and do the breastfeeding seminar, a little beer actually can help up your supply. Something about the yeast in the beer helps she said. So, I don't think having 1 beer will be bad afterwards.

I craved sushi & sashimi throughout my entire pregnancy with Josh. I never did have any but when I took him to his first ped. well baby check I asked her if it would affect my milk, she said no and I was a happy camper after that!

I don't care much for beer so since most people I hang out with drink beer it hasn't been an issue, but a couple weeks ago I was around all my whiskey drinking friends---I was going CRAZY for just one good whiskey on the rocks! I did dip my upper lip in a glass just to get the flavor---yeah I think that made it worse! LOL

I was definitely there, Michelle, pretty much ALL throughout the second & third trimester... the first tri. I was too sick to want anything, LOL! But it is freaking HARD to crave a cig and not be able to have it..
Hell I am craving it NOW but know I still can't have it. I did break down and have ONE puff of my mom's Ultra Light Regular cig yesterday. It definitely didn't help.

Get this - beer has been one of my pregnancy cravings. I can't even be in the same room as one because I can smell it's golden hopsy goodness and then I have to sniff and sniff it, which isn't the same at all. I think my baby boy might be a future frat boy.

Oh beer was a big one for me. Sometimes, I daydream about bathing in it.
