For a week now, Hallie has refused to take an afternoon nap. She gets up around 6 or 7, takes a morning nap from 9-10:30, and used to nap from 1-3. For some crazy reason, she's decided to stop sleeping during that normal afternoon nap time. She'll act tired, we'll read a book and rock in the chair, she'll get drowsy or fall completely asleep in my arms, and then I'll put her down in her crib. Immediately she wakes up and will sit up, crawl around, pull up on the crib, etc. etc. I have tried everything---leave her there, she'll just stay awake for an hour! Rock her again, she'll sometimes fall back asleep, but as soon as I put her down again, she wakes right back up. I have no idea what to do. She *needs* to sleep in the afternoon, not only because I need that time to get things done, but because when she doesn't, she starts getting really fussy around 6 or 7 and then I put her down for the night and she won't sleep through the night...she'll be up at 1 and 4...I guess cause she's overtired...it's like a vicious cycle! Any advice you can give would be much appreciated!

She may be getting rid of her afternoon nap. I forget what age is average but I know around 10ish months Seamus stopped taking 2 naps(now we can't even get one ). Only thing I can suggest is it wait alittle longer to put her down for a nap and hopefully the one nap she takes is for a longer period in the late morning/afternoon.
