So my coworker who is also a close friend hasnt been feeling well lately. We joke that she is pregnant because she was very sick when she was pregnant with her DS 4 1/2 years ago. She decided to go to the dr today and she was dehydrated so they sent her to the ER. She sent me a text saying "I'm pregnant..." (I got a phone call from the emergency room 4 1/2 years ago when she found out she was pregnant w/ DS) so I said back "are you serious?" (half hoping she was because she has been wanting to get pregnant, but her boyfriend said no to actively trying, but yes to NTNP) then she said "hahahahaha nope just kidding, the dr hasnt even seen me yet" and then again another text saying "hahahahahaha"

My problem is that she has known that we've been TTC and are going through infertility treatments. She knows I've been heartbroken in the past because of all the s why would she think its ok to joke about her pretending to be pregnant.. but then say haha just kidding!?

Am I over reacting or would you be upset too?

Again if she got pregnant I would genuinly be happy for her, but why throw this "just kidding" crap in my face!

I guess since you BOTH previously joked about it ....she thought it was ok to continue to do what you both were already doing. (or at least thats what I would think).

well we did joke about it, to an extent.. I dont know maybe I'm over reacting, but I guess because of the way she went about it is why I was upset..

I had the same thoughts about is as Angela. Since it was already joked about she probably thought it would be humerous. I don't think she meant to make you feel bad.

I know if I was in your shoes though I would be upset too. Heck, I'm not even going through MA but I get upset when people in my world announce pregnancies or joke about it. But I would have a hard time joking about it before the fact too. It's a sensitive time for you, but I'm counting on your pregnancy announcement soon!

Like the other girls said, she probably assumed it was okay to joke about since you two were joking about it previously. Still I understand why you're hurt -- it's a sensitive topic.

Wouldn't have bothered me. But then I expect insensitive comments from people that get pregnant easily, b/c they usually just can't help it. It makes sense why it would bother you though so you aren't "over-reacting"

I actually laughed when I was reading this until you stated your were upset. I would just laugh and go about my way. She was just joking about the time before when she found out she was pregnant. Im sorry it made you feel hurt
