I don't want to label myself as crazy but...have you ever stared at something long enough that you start seeing things? My last ultrasound was just over 3 weeks ago and every once in a while (okay maybe more often than every once in a while) I pull up the scanned image to see my little one. But what mystifies me is it looks like there is another spine to the left of my little one in both photos that the ultrasound tech let me keep of my last u/s. The ultrasound lasted about 10 minutes and she looked all around and had me shift to multiple positions and I trust her abilities at her job. I am by no means thinking that it is a 'hidden twin' but any ideas as to what it could be? Placenta perhaps? I'm not crazy I promise! One healthy baby would make me more than happy!

No ultrasound scheduled for my next appointment (6/30). In other news I am becoming more sure that the pokes I am feeling might actually be the baby and not just my body stretching.

It looks like its the actual outline of your baby (the fat, tissue and skin) with the fluid behind it. It's kind of like an echo because of the sound path of the u/s in the fluid.

You have a pretty "wavy" uterus... LOL... what I mean is that it's not surprising that you're "seeing" things because you have a lot of undulating wavy lines going on, making it hard for your eyes to really focus in on one specific point, and there does seem to be an echo of some sort behind the baby. However, I think it is just a trick of the sound waves/photography. I could be wrong but it seems like I see your placenta to the right in the photo (in front of baby/touching baby's head).

Thank you both for humoring me with a response. Now that I look at it I think you are right Kyle and the placenta is in front of baby. The ultrasound tech did mention that she was having a difficult time seeing everything because my uterus was tilted. I am sure it's just an echo. Mystery solved.

I was thinking along the same lines of Sara that that was just the back of your baby.
