So I went to the doctor last week after having that stupid fever for forever and the general practitioner said he thought I might have a urinary tract infection but wasn't confident about it so he sent me for blood work (i didn't cry... i was totally fine!) and gave me an rx for antibiotics to treat the UTI in the meantime. Well like 2 days later a nurse called saying they got results from testing and don't think it's a UTI and if my symptoms were gone I could only take the antibiotics for 5 days. Well I never had any of the symptoms of a UTI... so fine.

Angela warned me to take probiotics b/c I could get a yeast infection but I never went back to the store and obviously didn't take any.

And now I think I have a yeast infection, although I've never had one so I guess I can't be sure. But I'm pretty sure.

So now what? I have an appt w/ the doc this Thursday... should I just wait until then? Is there something OTC I could/should do? Do I need to call the doctor about this? Ugh. help!

I would start taking probiotics. I take Acidopholus and haven't had a yeast infection in since.

Well THAT will teach to not listen to me
Start taking probiotics now --it will help it go away also.

I know they have that test you can buy at the drug store that will tell you if you really have a yeast infection or not. I have no idea what one is like, I've never had one *knock on wood*.

I know that its supposed to be really bad itching...clumpy discharge and your hoohoo will smell yeasty or like beer.

I've heard good things about Monistat 3 or 7.

I wasn't intentionally not listening... I just haven't gone to the store! I planned on getting some when I picked up the RX for the antibiotics but was feeling crappy and forgot... plus I'm not really sure what I'm looking for anyway.

What I'm reading online is that if you've never had a yeast infection before is that you should go to your doctor so they can make sure it isn't something else. I'm working like all day tomorrow and Wed and have my appt for Thursday... I don't want to wait that long but I'm not sure what to do. I could just call the OB in the morning and ask but I was thinking I'd go out (or beg DH to go out) to the store tonight and get some monistat or whatever b/c from what I've read you should do that at night and I'd rather get started now before anything gets worse and starts sounding more like what Heather described

DO NOT take any over the counter meds, you're pregnant and this is your first yeast infection so you need to be seen by your OB. The itching and burning is usually worse at night so use cool compresses to help alleviate that so you can sleep. In the mean time, take the probiotics! I hope it gets better soon!

Also, I can tell you from experience that some women are allergic to miconazole nitrate (Monistat) and it sucks HARD CORE finding out you're allergic on top of a yeast infection.

I had one while I was pregnant and Jess told me to put a clove of garlic in my cha cha. It was weird but it worked!

I would call your doctor. Yeast infections are awful!! It sounds like yourS is in the beginning stages if you don't have the cottage cheese chunks yet. The garlic clove sounds like a good idea too. I would try that!

Yeah Angela pointed out that the OTC monistat or whatever is a class C drug so I took a probiotic pill and am going to call and ask the OB what they suggest.

Another natural option, dont laugh, Apple cider vinegar, wipe with it whenever you use the restroom, it will burn but will numb the area and relieve the itching - believe me, the yeast infection I had with cottage cheese chunks smelling like beer - it HELPS!!! Just pour a bit on the TP and wipe!!
