We are homeschooling too only because I want to teach waldorf style and if I dont win the lotto, I cant afford $3000 for PRESCHOOL! Let me know if you want some waldorf info!! Keep us posted, me too You can do it!! I was homeschooled, so it just seems natural for me to do the same for my children

That's awesome! I'll be homeschooling my girls too. I was homeschooled most of my life and I learned sooo much. I'll be using Abeka for my girls. What are you going to use?

Right now, I'm just going to start with creating my own curriculum but I'm very interested in Abeka. So I might look into that to see what I think of that!

Beth, tell me more about Waldorf...I've never ever heard of it. Do you have a web-link??

It's so awesome to see so many of you planning or already homeschooling. I'll have some people to vent to and support me. My mother in law isn't please, but she'll help if she knows it's what we want. My parents on the other hand will discourage me and tell me that I'm not doing the right thing with my kids. But whatever....I've been planning homeschooling since I was 13....well before I had children.

I don't bring it up to Damon because I know it's going to take some major planning and convincing on my part. I know his mom and sister will think it's the wrong thing to do. I would never take any parenting advise on schooling from my MIL because she allowed my husband to drop out of high school. She also basicly let them do what they wanted to do. My mother supports me in homeschooling.

Resi, I don't know if it will help at all, but I have a book that might help with the desicion making and I think it could help you prove your case to Damon. It's called the Homeschooling Handbook by Mary Griffith. I'm still reading it but so far it's been super helpful.

Thanks Carolyn...I wasn't homeschooled either, that's partly why I want to homeschool. School was hard for me....not the school part, the social part. I didn't have a lot of friends and I was teased a lot and made fun of. And I think school is more important worrying about whether or not someone likes you. Too often, that is the focus for a child.

I will check that book out. I had a hard time with school (middle & high) for social reasons also. Another big thing for me is influences. There can be a lot of the bad influences when going to school. I feel teaching him at home and having him in involved with activities outside of a school setting is best.

I TOTALLY agree Resi! YAY for homeschooling My whole family supports it, especially my parents. I was homeschooled and one of my sisters homeschooled her son and he's doing great. He's 16 now, has plenty of friends, and plays sports like anyone else. He wants to go to college to be a physical education teacher. My inlaws know that I'm capable of teaching and Andy's capable to teach the math (I'm horrible at it LoL) so they have no concerns that I know of.

-Brandi- I don't know if you'd like a 3rd child but I know that one day I would. Do you ever wonder how you'd do it with 3 kids? I'd have two girls only a grade apart and a toddler running around. It sounds daunting LoL

This is my concern as well. Will I be able to do it? Liam and Loch will be a grade apart and then having another little one to tend to. I guess people do it with way more kids at home than 3 though so we can make it work too!

Lisa and Jenn, there is a great blog I was looking at the other day that mentions Tot School, it's kinda like a preschool for kids who aren't old enough for preschool. Here's a link: Tot School She also has another blog about homeschooling: 1+1+1=1

I think these are GREAT links. Especially since I have no plan to quit having children any time soon! I hope these links help you!
