I just commented but feel free to remove it if it's inappropriate!

How rude of her to be so insensitive at this time. I know how I would have felt if someone had done that. I was petrified of my imminent labour/delivery (I needn't have been though, itreally wasn't as bad as I'd expected).

I'm sorry she's putting you through that. That would make me so mad! This may sound crazy but because we live so close to Lancaster, PA where tons of Amish people live, we've come to have close relationships with lots of the families there and they ONLY have home births with midwives and the average family size is 8-14 kids and they're all healthy as can be! MILs are so annoying!

Did you actually watch the whole thing? I gave up after a minute because that lady was just rediculous! They don't even talk about how most interventions were actually unnecessary and just to keep the doctors idea of the 'right' timeline. Women have been giving birth at home for a couple million years. I'm pretty sure that means it's what nature intended. You're going to do great Angela and your MIL needs to shut it!

I would LOVE to have a homebirth .. if only I was allowed .. I labour to quick and both times of induction (another reason why I can't have a homebirth) both there heart rates went low and I narrowly missed intervention with Chloe !!!

But she should understand and respect your decision of a homebirth ... and I can't wait to here all about it !!!

OOOH! I LOVE this! I am about to leave for work so I don't have time to watch that video but I read all the comments people left and I LOVE IT. I am so glad people are chiming in and putting her in her place. What a hooker to send you that stupid link... I haven't even seen it but clearly she isn't going to educate you on something about homebirths you don't know by some scare tactic video. RIDICULOUS. Has Troy seen it?

I have my own opinion about home births, but that's awful that your MIL posted that. It's your decision, and what good comes from "scaring" you? That is a very skewed video.

How terrible! I have to wait until I get home to watch the video but it just sucks that she would be so insensitive at this time.

BTW, in the future don't put things like you're title name on message boards. It raises flags and could land you in hot water if anything should ever happen. There was a case, I don't remember it all that well but I think it was about a girl who got a harsh sentenced for injuring someone while driving drunk or something like that. The defense used her facebook messages where she posted that she liked getting drunk, etc. Just a little FYI.

That annoyed ME, and I would never have a home birth, but the obgyn talking obviously knows nothing about the safety of childbirth when there are NO medical interventions. The majority of times things go wrong because of medical intervention, epidurals, pitocin, etc. I had to write something on your facebook about it too, because it annoyed me that she would do something so obnoxious and unsupportive!

How can they say that a waterbirth (most common of homebirths) is unsafe?? The risks they are discussing are so rare, and a water birth is less tramatic for a baby!!! That was almost 4 minutes of absolute nonsense. It's no different than the doctors tell me that I'll die if I attemp a VBAC. The risks of a VBAC are far less than those of a repeat c-section. That doctor sounded to me a little knife happy. She probably would have been the one who gave me the hysterectomy that my doctor told was a possiblity, which I later found out was BS.

Troy has not seen it yet---he comes home tonight and will see it then. I'm TRYING my hardest not to reply to her right now and let him get home so HE can do something about it. After all its HIS mom.

See I know there are tons of people its not for....I'm cool with that. Its using scare tactics/pressure that I hate.

I think the video was very one sided- I wouldn't be happy if my MIL did that to me! ( I dont have in-laws) So- I can't really relate but I think your decision is a great one and you have a lot of support behind it!!
