Had my second doctor's appointment yesterday. Got the blood results, etc. back from the first time... good news, don't have AIDS! Or any of the other bad stuff... my blood type is O+ which for some strange reason I'm all proud of. I've lost 2 pounds since last month's appointment.

We got to hear the heartbeat for the first time! It took a minute for her to find it and then it was super loud and strong and then I guess the baby swam away or something DH got choked up listening. The HB was 167! I didn't tell DH that 'they say' that higher heartbeats mean girl b/c I don't want him to gloat. I'm still realllllllyyyyy hoping for a boy even though the timing of bd, the hb, etc. are pointing towards girl.

Anyone have a really high HB and wind up having a boy??

Anyway, DH also took my 12 week pictures which I updated up in the belly pics subforum. But I'll throw in a bonus. It's the first day it felt like I had more bloat than I could really suck in comfortably. DH had me suck in to take a photo... so this is that one. I look stupid from literally like sucking it in. haha

So glad it's all good and baby has a strong HB! I'm pretty sure my nephew had a high heartbeat throughout my sister's pregnancy! And you are so cute! You have got to be one of the most adorable preggos I've ever seen! I want a no-sucking-in pic so I don't have to be jealous of how tiny you are though!

Edward's heartbeat was 178 when I was pregnant with him. He was a surprise baby. Good about the AIDS!!! Glad you got to hear the heartbeat. It's the most amazing thing to experience....just wait until you have an ultrasound and he/she looks like a person instead of a bean!!!!

You look so cute! And yay for a good appointment! I don't believe the HB thing. Elsa's was always 150 or lower, and she's a girl. She was just a lazy baby who wasn't getting her HR up, I think, lol.

Aw thanks! Gotta enjoy it while I can because I'm totally gonna look like a friggin' road map by the end of this. You can see in the photo the faded stretch mark on my side just from getting fat when I was younger. I'm doomed!

I love it! I told Ben "leave it to be to have the universal blood type... in case of a disaster I could save everyone... but I'll be crying the whole time anyone tries to take it" hahaha ... that's not so true now, I've gotten much better where I don't really cry now, but still. I don't think I'm ready to willingly donate any.

Yeah it's always been January 15th. I'm not sure why Sara put early January in my siggy but I love it too much to bother changing it. haha

I'm glad to hear there's still some hope! haha.

My hair is growing like a WEED! It's insane. It's grown like 3 inches since the wedding. My hair has always grown super fast and is really really thick. Pregnancy is just making it worse. lol

YEAH for getting to hear the HB!!!!!
Well my little bug runs in th 130's nor do we know sex so I'm no help there. HOWEVER people have researched the old wives tales to see what is true and what is not. The HB to predict gender IS true....BUT only during active (nonmedicated) labor. The hormone surge from mom is one that baby girls bodies detect and so baby girls have higher heart rates at that time. Prior to active labor there is no connection.
