When Jenn mentioned Lochlann falling out of his bed it got me thinking Taylor's almost 2 and she's still doing well in her crib. She hasn't tried to get out or anything. When should I consider converting it to a toddler bed? How did the transition go? I'm afraid once we lay her down for the evening she'll be wandering all over her room crying or playing with toys all hours of the night LoL. Any suggestions/tips would be awesome

If she's still doing well in her crib than leave her there as long as you like! We moved Liam out of the crib when he was 2 years and 3 months but that's only because Lochlann was 6 months old and we needed the crib for him. He never tried to climb out either and did quite well in his crib. The transition was really smoothe as well. He does like to go to sleep with a favorite toy but he doesn't get out of bed at all once he goes in. We're going through a "scared of monsters" phase right now so he also goes to sleep with a little flashlight and a spray bottle of "monster spray" which is really just water, parsley, and a little baby soap. It helps him though.

We transitioned Lochlann a little early because he was not sleeping well in his crib. He wouldn't stay asleep for the night and he is my climber so I was afraid he'd hurt himself trying to climb in and out. Aside from the fall out of bed last night he is doing great! He transitioned well to the big bed and aside from his night terrors has been sleeping great! He will get out of bed and climb in with Liam when they wake up in the morning and Liam "reads" stories to him. Its really cute! I think I just have to push the bed rail up farther since he's tiny and likes to sleep completely on his pillow and I think that's why he was able to skootch himself off last night.

We moved Curtis out around 18 months. We wanted him to be well transitioned before Dustin came and had to use the crib. I LOVE having him in his big boy bed. His is a little toddlers bed. He comes out after sleeping and naps and cuddles in my bed. He used to fight staying in his bed, but he learned quickly and we have no issues. Haven't for a long time. He fell out a couple times but it's super close to the floor so either he kept sleeping or needed some snuggles and went back to sleep. I also loved finding him sleeping in weird places hahaha. But we also kept his door closed (not tightly) so he would stay in his room.

But I don't see any harm in keeping her in her crib as long as you want. We needed the crib for Dustin and I actually really preferred him being able to come and go

If shes still doing well in her crib don't move her.

We moved Seamus for a few reasons 1 beign we didn't have his crib when we moved back to Idaho, but he could already climb out at almost 2yrs old. He was in a playpen when we got back to Idaho till he was 2.5 and moved to a toddler bed and its still 5months later taking some time to get him used to a big bed(hes now in a twin cause he learned to flip the toddler one over)

Ian was never in a crib, he hated it. He slept with us the first year, when we moved into our own apartment (lived with roomates) we got him a toddler bed. You just have to go in, put them back in bed and shut the door, repeat it over and over, theyll figure it out LOL.

Even now, both kids dont go to bed in the same room for the first part of the night. Morgan starts in our room in a pack n play and then we transfer her to her bed (both kids are in their own twin bed) when we head to bed.

Really its up to you, I say if shes comfy in the crib, just leave here there, and maybe start dropping hints about a big girl bed, and start making a big deal about it and see what she does! Tell her that with a new bed, she can get some new stickers for the wall - lol it worked for Ian haha!

Thanks ladies, I really appreciate it. I have 2 cribs and a toddler bed but both cribs convert to toddler beds as well, LoL. I bought the toddler bed thinking Rylie would get the crib and we'd just move Taylor to the toddler bed but she hasn't been ready for it yet. I guess once baby #3 is on the way Taylor can have the toddler bed, and Rylie and baby#3 get the cribs LoL

harrison moved to his big biy bed well after 2 cause he slept really well in his crib, we finally moved him to get ready for Nora. We never had an issue with him getting out of his bed. He was very excited about it and by 2 1/2 he knew the rules when it came to bed time. He knows once you're in bed - you're in bed. He wouldn't even get out in the morning at first he would yell for us - but now he gets out on his own cause we told him he could. We don't keep alot of toys in his room and never have so he doesn't confuse sleeping space with playing space so we don't have a problem with that either. I think if you lay down the guidelines and enforce them - don't sway from that then Taylor will know what's expected from her when she gets into her big girl bed.

Also - I skipped the toddler bed thing - Harrison went right into a twin bed from the crib and did fine!
