I'm getting low on my Dr. Greene's prenatal vitamins and I'm due to buy another bottle. But I want to switch to the best brand... So, which OTC brand is the best to buy? I'm so clueless when it comes to OTC medications.. Price is not an issue either..

I got great advice from bittersweet on fish oil from a thread someone started a few months back.. And I had such great results since I switched to that certain brand.. My blood sugars have dropped 10 points since going on them and I haven't had to up my insulin dose (I only take it at night) for a month now.. So, I know you ladies have the scoop.

Thanks for your help..

Melissa

I take store brand ones too. I'm also on extra folic acid, which has fish oil in the same pill, but those are store brand also. I get them at... Walgreens, Target or wherever I happen to be when I need more.

I take New Chapter prenatals. I like them b/c they are cultured from whole foods for easier absorbtion and you can take them w/o food if needed. They also contain probiotics which are good for your GI/GU health.

You do have to take 3 a day. Also, they don't contain (much) calcium. Which is great in formula b/c calcium and iron shouldnt be taken together anyhow. Neither will be absorbed very well if they are. But that means you'll probably need a calcium suppliment. I take a cal/mag pil once a day.

Overall it is a great quality vitamin. But if you have problems taking multiples pills it might not be for you.

I used to take a set by Solaray. I hated them though, they were big and dificult to swallow and you had to take 5 of them or something like that. I stopped taking them too bcause they made my m/s worse but I started to eat more foods that were high in the nutrients I needed.

I started out with the New Chapter prenatals also. I switched to a kids multi vitamin because I had a hard time taking big pills.

Thanks again bittersweet.. There's a place in my town that sells New Chapter vitamins.. And I wasn't aware of the iron and calcium interaction, I'm so glad I asked for help.. I learn something new everyday.. I'm already taking a calcium supplement because I don't drink that much milk due to the diet I'm on.. This is going to be perfect now.. I'm just curious if the change will lower my blood sugar even more, since it will have probotics,etc.. I'm just so excited now..

Thanks again!

I've never even heard of New Chapter prenatals. I always just get the Target ones.
