I've been looking to purchase one and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions- either on a certain bag or maybe a good website to look. I would like a cute one that I won't mind carrying and hopefully includes a changing mat.

I went to BRU today (first time since becoming pregnant and getting back in the US) and didn't see any in the shop I liked. They were so expensive, but looked poorly made. On a side note, that place is enormous! I was so overwhelmed by all the stuff they have. I'm glad I'm just sticking to the basics lol, or else I could spend a fortune!

We're cheap people so I dont know if you want my suggestion But I refuse to pay more then $30 for one. I really liked a few that JC Penney had but we never got the chance to get back there before Kieran came, and I ended up with a Pooh one from Walmart.

I'm w/ Justine... I can't imagine spending more than that on a diaper bag. But then again, I haven't shopped for one yet either. haha. I haven't been intp a BRU you either and just realized we have one in the town next to us so I'm excited and a little scared to go in. haha. I'm interested to see what websites people post here though to check out.

haha, it was a little bit scary Shannon! Just be sure to go in with a list of what you are shopping for! I think I wandered aimlessly for about an hour before leaving without purchasing anything.

Justine, I will be sure to check out JC Penny's. I am definitively a fan of cheapness, but I wouldn't mind spending a bit more on a nice bag that I would use later on as a tote.

Well a girlfriend of mine recommended the messanger style. She said she bought an ultra cute $200 tote style one and bought he DH a messanger one and she only uses his now! She loves the ease of being able to wear is over you while carring baby, hanging it over the stroller, having both hands free all the time, and they are just more durable overall.

I think I am going to take her advice and get a plain black messanger. I like this one so far...

Yeah I think a messenger style one would be nice too and I like the simplicity of the ones on the link you posted, Erin. I know I'll have to be hands on b/c I'll be anal about pockets, etc. so whatever we get I'll have to buy in person, or see in person and then try to snag on ebay or something.

Erin, that's exactly the sort of thing I was looking for!!

It's not as cutsie as I was thinking, but I like that it doesn't look like a diaper bag and DH will carry it as well. The reviews were great too, so right now I am most likely going to get one. haha, probably the black, as well so we may be matching

Thanks so much for all the help

I don't like to use diaper bags.. They are so bulky..

I like to use a regular messenger style bag.. You know, the ones that teenagers/young adults use to carry their books in.. It holds just enough stuff for my day outings and the styles they have are nice looking.. I also bought medium/large purse to carry items for short trips to the store. They have cute XOXO purses at Ross for 1/2 the price.. I try to carry less as possible.. I also keep a small diaper bag full with baby stuff in my car, for emergency situations..

As for a changing pad.. I use the changing pad that came with my small diaper bag.. But I did find a nice compact changing pad at Ross the other day.. It looks like this, but I have the blue one with the fishes on it.. I can't wait to use it..

I don't use a diaper bag unless it's an over night thing. I just throw everything into my purse. Some wipes, sippy cup/bottle, snacks, diapers, face cloth, and nursing cover. Then a pocket for my phone and wallet.

I have this purse:

I just got it at... Pacsun? I believe that's what it's called. They have lots of big beach style bags.

But I love getting new bags and with having two kids I think I'm ready to upgrade to a bigger purse, dunno about an actual diaper bag though.

You'll have to let me know what you think when it comes in! I wont be buying anything for awhile but I'm pretty sure I'll get that one too.

They carry that one at BRU too. I went to look, but they only had some crazy pattered ones in. But at least you can scope it out and then order whatever color you want if you like it.

I found an OiOi bag on craigslist for $40. The brand new price is $100. I ended up selling it a few months back because my SIL gave me a basic black diaper bag that I liked much more. To be honest I don't understand spending a lot of money on a fancy diaper bag. Half the time mine stays in the car while we go inside stores. Maybe check out craiglist. I think Target has some cute ones online too.

The first time my mom and I stepped into BRU we were overwhelmed by everything. I ended up doing a lot of research online looking at reviews and figuring out what I wanted. Then when I went back it wasn't as bad.

So I took a look see at BRU today and I saw this one. It is really cute in person, zips (no magnet), plenty of room, and stain resistent. It has a insulated bottle pocket on the side and a long shouder strap. The color is darker in person. It also comes in a bright red.

I guess I am the odd one out here but to me, the BIGGER, the better! I got mine at a consignment store for $5, barely used in great condition. It is blue with cute elephants on it. DH doesn't mind carrying it, and it is HUGE! I can carry pretty much everything in it, and I certainly do! haha. I thought I wouldn't want a bulky bag, but with the amount of stuff that Alice needs when we go out, it is sooo worth it.

I agree with you Lauren the bigger the better! I am looking for a bigger one now! Diapers, wipes, extra clothes, snacks, jar of food, breast feeding cover, a blanket and some small toys is what I bring with me every where. LOL maybe thats why my bag wont shut!

I got the JJ Cole Mode Bag (available at a lot of places, but I've seen it at BRU and Amazon.com):

(It comes in more designs than the one I got) I like it because it's not huge and bulky, but has lots of compartments/pockets, is made out of a cleanable material, and it has special hooks to attach to your stroller. Big perk for me right there! It is pretty pricey, $59, but I had a 20% off coupon AND a $5 off coupon for it from BRU, so I got it a lot cheaper. However, I haven't actually used it yet since baby isn't here, but I've heard really good things about it in reviews and what-not.
