Alright, so I just got back from my Appt with my RE!!!! She is so amazing!! She called DH and I into her office and asked me about my cycles and stuff and we talked about my history and all my issues. We went over the meds I have taken, and reasons why I am not ovulating. She reviewed the write up about my ultrasound I hand in november and looked for signs of PCOS(which I was told I didn't have in November) We talked about all our options, and I asked about being started on Provera to induce AF so I could move onto the next cycle. She wanted to wait to male sure I didn't Ovulate on my own, but I said I was to impatient to wait another 2 weeks!! We decided to do an Ultrasound to make sure I wasn't preggo are even about to O. So because I love me some cooter cam and happily agreed. She stuck the cooter cam in there and the first thing she said is that my lining was thick so then she was intrigued. As soon as she got to the right overy, I knew what words were going to come out next...."You have PCOS" She said a normal person is supposed to have 10 follicles each cycle 1 becomes the dominant follicle and grows and is released. I had 81 follicles between my 2 overies, she said it as the worst she has ever seen. She explained PCOS to me in very easy terms, basically with to many follicles there never becomes a dominant one and therefor you never O!!! I loved how she explained it..."All indians and no chief, All sous cheffs and no cheff" LOL. Kyle was not in the room with me for that because he though it was going to be to awkward. When we were done we went back to her office and discussed our options.

We decided that I would start Metformin right away and e may see some fertility benifits from it in the next couple of months. She gave Prometrium, which I will sart tonight so I can get AF. CD 3-7 I will take 7mg of Femara(I was scared taking this high amount, but she assured me it as ok). As soon as AF is gone I will do an HSG at a DR close to my house. On CD 13 I will go in for an ultrasound, and will continus to do it daily until I am ready to O(pending the meds work) I will the do a trigger shot and an IUI locally. I am excited that it will all be monitored b my RE but can be preformed here!!! If after 3 ovulatory cycles with IUI I am still not Pregnant then we have to do IVF. If I do not responded to the meds at all, we may to Ovarian drilling and try Femara one more time or just go straight to IVF.

Anyways, I left the office crying, I am such a big baby!!! She also is making me get a slew of tests done, Rubella, blood type, fasting glucose, cholesterol and a ton more I can not remember!!

I would love some info from people who have done and HSG and people who have gone on Metformin!!! I am scared and excited all at the same time!!

Anyways, if you made it to the end thank you!!!!

Ooh Lauren will be able to share tons of info for you cause she's had the HSG and done the trigger and IUI, etc. She doesn't have PCOS but I know there are several other ladies on here who do that will be able to share.

So, 81 follies, eh?! WOW! That's a ton! I am so happy to hear all of this though, as weird as that sounds, because it sounds like with your treamtment plan you will be pregnant in NO TIME! That's so exciting and I'm super glad you can do it locally and don't have to make that three hour drive!

Lots of this flew over my head but I'm SO thrilled to hear that things are happening, plans are being made! It's great that you can do things close to home but have her over see things.

YAY Baby here we COME!

Wow, that's a lot of info to take in! I am SO HAPPY that you are getting answers and have a course of action all planned out. I'm sorry that you have to jump through all of the hoops, but you'll be pregnant soon, and it will all be worth it!

Sounds like a great plan! When I was dx'd with PCOS I had about 80 follies as well. I did met for 6 months before we had to go on a TTC break...it was really crappy(literally) getting used to the drugs for the first 2-3 weeks, but after that it was great...I actually was regulated quite a bit from it. HSG can be painful, but its not for long. I can give you more detail if you want.

I'm just glad that you now know what's going on. The RE sounds extremely competent and knowledgeable, I think you're in good hands! So now let's get this show on the road!

There is hope Morgan. I was on Metformin starting in June of 2008 and by October I had a baby in me! I was diagnosed with PCOS in June and my big problem was insulin resistance.....messed up insulin hormones mess up your girlie hormones and mess up the ovulation process. Like your doc said, mine said that each month your ovaries don't produce a dominant folly and they all just sit in the ovary and don't come out and become cysts. I had the classic "ring of pearls" look on my ovaries on the ultrasound. The met wasn't bad - it messes up your stomach a bit at first but its not terrible....you just have to eat kind of like a diabetic and that will help with the stomach issues. I was regulated and started ovulating right away - I still had longer cycles but definintely ovulated each month. I was having short LP's but that didn't seem to matter because I got preggo in October. So I think this is great that they have determined the PCOS because its least its something they can focus on treating and get you preggo! I'm so excited for you!!!

It must be a relief to finally be getting some answers, and to have a gameplan. I have a feeling a bfp is right around the corner for you!

Well I did Clomid although I was already Oing and I had questionable PCOS. One month I had a ton of follies, next month a normal amount. Anyway. I also did an HSG the month I got preggo.

I think the key for you is to get you ovulating! I'm so glad you have a Dr who has a great game plan for you, you are well on your way to your baby!
