They called me on my way in....said the dr wants another quant level drawn tomorrow. they said they were VERY low. At 6wks they should be 6 weeks LMP: 1,080 - 56,500 mIU/ml. Mine were 17.1 on the 13th and 21.7 on the 15th. They said that they were not concerned with the lack of doubling since not everyone doubles....they are concerned that they are so low. BUT they did say that they went up and not down and that was very good. Here are normal levels for 3-5wks:
- 3 weeks LMP: 5 - 50 mIU/ml
- 4 weeks LMP: 5 - 426 mIU/ml
- 5 weeks LMP: 18 - 7,340 mIU/ml (taken from some website online....)
- Now I can't get the stupid bullet gone! Anyway, the urse said she though maybe I wasn't as far along as I thought. Possible. So I came home and toom ANOTHER hpt. The 1st 3 I cuold tell were gonna be pos within a minute, but it took a full 2-3 minutes for them to darken up enough to really see them....you've seen the pics. The $ store test was VERY faint. I took one today (FRER 3pk, $15 for the 3) around 11am, after drinking 1/2-3/4 bottle of water and peeing already and the positive line came up BEFORE the control line and it was darker than the previous 4 tests. So I'm hoping, praying, and thinking that I may just be off by 2 wks like I was with DS. With DS he measured 2.5 weeks behind what I thought on the U/S and I'm just gonna be one of the 15% to not double? Anyone know anything else about what it could be? If I was about to mc, would the level even go up?

Is it possible that you O'd later then you think? Maybe you got a + result at 10-12DPO? Maybe you are really only 14/15DPO today?
Did they say anything about doing an u/s to see whats going on? (cause if you are really 6 weeks, there would be a ges sac/yolk/pole/maybe HB, where as 5 weeks or less you'd only see a ges sac and yolk.)
ETA: I think if you were 6 weeks and ectopic, you'd be in a world of pain by now. Only other not good outcome would be blighted ovum -- but even then I don't think you'd get to 6 weeks......

Would it be possible to request an internal u/s at this point? It just seems to be that the blood hcg measurements can cause more confusion than they are worth. If you are over 6 wks they should be able to see a healthy heartbeat and do a CRL measurement for gestational age. Sorry you are going through all this... hope you get some answers soon.
ETA: Just saw Sam wrote the same thing about the u/s.

Missy, I am really hoping your dates are just off like they were with your DS and you are one of those women whose numbers don't double and are okay.
Unfortunately with my m/c I did have my hcg going up but not doubling. My baby was behind in dates, we saw a heartbeat even and I still miscarried. I was further along, with my levels going from like 7000 to 9000 in two days, or something like that.
I hestitate to even share that with you b/c I don't want you to freak out and think your pregnancy is doomed. It may well be that you have a healthy baby in there. The first trimester is just so precarious (to me).
I'm praying everything is fine with your pregnancy and that you get some answers soon.

I'm so sorry Missy. I am hope you can get an u/s to see what is going on. If you are 6 weeks along, those would be more helpful than HCG.

I have to call back tomorrow 1 hour after my blood test, I'll ask about a U/S then. The nurse was pretty confident that it was just missed dates and nothing more but I don't know. I've wracked my brain trying to figure out exactly when and stuff but I can't.

I'm hoping and praying that you just arent as far along as you are thinking.
I really dont want to be a downer, but I thought I would give you some insight into what happened to me since unfortunately its similar.
My #'s:
11dpo - 6
13dpo - 17
16dpo - 5
my numbers did go up (they almost tripled) but then by the 3rd test 3 days later they had gone back down again.
You will be in my T's&P's!

HCG can go up without doubling in certain cases - blighted ovum, ectopic and chemical pregnancy. And then there are those cases where you hear "my hCG didn't double/was low and now my baby is 4 years old." Unfortunately, this post reminds me so much of what was happening with Krista a few weeks back. I am hoping soooo much that this isn't the case for you, Missy... I hope you get some more specific answers soon. Try to hang in there until you can get in for an u/s.

I guess I will know tomorrow.
Edited to ask: if my numbers were going down, would the tests get darker?

The darkness/lightness levels in the test are not an indicator for your HCG levels. The test are only made to show a line or no line.

I'm so sorry Missy. My numbers did a similar thing during my pregnancy a few weeks ago. My first draw was 28 and my next draw was 40. My draws were 3 days apart. My FRERs started to get lighter the day after my second draw. The day I m/ced my FRER was squint worthy.
I'm hoping and praying that you are just much earlier than you think.

As long as its not ectopic. A MC would be horrible obviously, but I'd still have the hope of future since my ovary DID work this time. But an ectopic would kill that because my tube would be a goner Hopefully my dates are just screwy like they were with Brayden. I was 2.5 weeks off with him....i was thinking it was 3 but then I looked back and it was 2.5 weeks off.
