So, remember the crazy guy who painted a long red line down our yard so that WE would know the division of property? Yeah, well this guy and his family has JUST NOW TODAY built this deck thing. It looks more like a lookout tower with a few chairs, and it goes around their above ground pool. So, instead of building this thing on the other side of his yard where he has no neighbors, he builds it RIGHT BY OUR FENCE! ***? So while he and his wife and all their kids and all of their friends and their friends kids are on this deck, they can see right into our (supposedly "private") yard. AND our windows. ***?!
Is this legal? Seriously, every time I take the doggies out, all they do is bark at these people, because it is like they are IN OUR YARD. It is so high up that I can seriously see their FEET when they walk on it. OVER our fence. I am so pissed! Is there anything we can do? I mean, we 'own' this home, we pay a mortgage, NOT renters.

Hmm. That's weird. It would depend on city ordinances. I know here we have laws that you can't build a fence within X feet of your actual property line... and that would prevent them from being so close to your property. That's really annoying.
I wanna see a picture!

OH! And just now five kids came banging on the door because something fell over our fence. THEY ARE SO CLOSE THAT THEIR CRAP FELL OVER THE FENCE!
I just took some. Uploading now

omg! yeah I hope there's some kind of protection against that and that they'll have to tear it down! haha... I mean, that's evil to say but they kind of deserve it after the way they treated you and were spray painting the line, etc.

This reminds me of an episode.... umm... what show is it?? Where they have a pool right by the couples window and can like see them swimming haha. Man I cant remember the name of the show!!
Anyways she does some sorta legal action but uh, it's a show so I have no idea if it's real or whatever haha.
I hope you can do something so they have to tear it down, that's just awful.

Aw I can see Toby in the last one! haha
Yeah, that's annoying. It's not quite as bad as I was picturing it but you guys literally have no privacy in your yard now if they're out there despite having build a privacy fence. The fact that the water is draining partially into your grass is an issue as well... and depending on how strict the ordinances and regulations are where you live that could be dealt with. I know that kind of thing wouldn't fly here, but my town has REALLY strict rules to prevent this kind of stuff. Like we don't have a single billboard... almost didn't get a mcdonald's b/c we wouldn't allow the big golden arches.... paint for houses have to be approved, etc. It's not annoying like it sounds - it keeps things nice, and keeps crap like what's happening to you from happening to us. I hope there's some way around this!

Yeah, Toby was barking his head off at the people. If I could get closer you could see the distance from our fence to their fort thingy. Ah well. I dunno where to look to see if there is an ordinance?

try the city ordinance and any homeowners association in the area.
But since your in a privacy fence area----start laying out nude in your back yard and other normally not public things! I did that when we had a similar issue---the person then put up some pretty trees to block the view!!!!!

If you have no idea where to start, call your city hall and explain what your issue is, and they should be able to direct you to the correct office. Hopefully you'll find out about some kind of homeowner's regulation or rule that prevents this kind of eyesore. Good luck!

That doesn't even look safe!! Who made it? A high school shop class? Maybe you can catch them on a safety regulation. It sure is freaking ugly.

Exactly! Our yard used to be really pretty out there. Nice trees, new fence, etc. Now we have what we are now calling "Fort Monstrosity". And it is super freaking high. Not sure why they did that at all. They also cut a nice tree down to do it. I just don't understand why they didn't do it on the OTHER side of the yard, where there is more room and not another person's yard RIGHT THERE. Makes no sense.
I will call a few places on Monday. Hopefully someone will point in the right direction.

Did they have to contact a building inspector or anything? I would start with that person!

If I was you, I'd just grow an evergreen hedge along the fence line. Would take a couple of years to get up high enough, but would add some value to your place, as well as give you some more privacy.
God knows why they would do that for - you'd like they would consider both yours and their own privacy!

I honestly dont know how things like that would get sorted over in the US but if that was to happen here in the UK they would have needed AT LEAST planning pamission for that monstrosity!
