I think she has to wait until Sept.. It's around 20 weeks for her from what I remember. She only gets one.. just like my insurance company.

I can't wait to find out what she is having!! I'm hoping boy.

Yep... that's exactly right.

At my first appointment they said I get one ultrasound and it's around 20-22 weeks. I have my next appointment next Wed and I'll be 15w5d. Haven't scheduled the big ultrasound yet. DH just got a new day job and will be training for the first six weeks M-F like 8-5 starting August 17th, and obviously he will want to be there... and I don't think getting time off is going to be very realistic so I'm going to see if it's possible to do it before then. Aug 17 is a Monday, so the prior Friday would be the latest we could do it w/ him there and I'd be exactly 18 weeks. If that's not possible, there is a 3d place in the next town over that does gender determination at 17 weeks so I guess we would do that so Ben could be there.

I really really realllly want a boy - can't even imagine having a girl. I don't think it's some kind of intuition, just more desperation. DH wants a girl... so one of us will come out victorious I suppose. haha. He's way more open to a boy than I am to a girl. I don't think he'll need any time to 'get used' to the idea like I think I will if it's a girl.

Soo why do you want a boy so much more over a girl? Are you scared of raising a girl? I was kind of the other way.. I really wanted a girl. Ha! Now I don't know what I was thinking. You really will be happy with what ever you are given.

I don't know really. When I was younger I always said I wanted two boys and then a girl... I loved the idea of having an older brother to be protective over a little girl too. But for the last several years I've been at a place where I haven't had a preference - either gender would be great. But since getting pregnant I can ONLY picture having a boy. I'm not excited at all about hair bows and dresses and frilly pink things, etc. DH's bff has a 4 year old little girl that we spend a ton of time with and she's just the cutest... my 4 year old neice has been in town and I've been playing with her non-stop. I really have nothing against little girls, and do want one at some point, but for whatever reason I just REALLY want this to be a boy. I know I will be perfectly happy with a little girl too... it'll just take me a second to switch mindsets I think.

Shan, most of the 3d/4d places are open on weekends. We did ours on a Saturday morning.

I get what you mean about having to switch mindsets when it comes to gender. I was the same way, but I was hoping for a girl first. Like Resi, now that I have a boy, I can;t imagine it any other way. lol

I would totally pitch in some money to get the US earlier!!!

Shan, I was exactly that way when I was first PG, and even before. I did NOT want a girl at all for the first 19 weeks. Then a few days before my US, I had a change of heart, literally overnight. I had a dream, and in my dream I had a cute little girl with a full head of hair, who we named Alice Lennon. I was really hopign & praying for a girl when I was on the US table. I mean for the first 19 weeks I was so deadset against a girl, had my boy name picked out, had even bought quite a few articles of boys clothes (which alice now wears, haha).

I do think you will get your boy, though!

BTW, you nkow that some of those 4d places are totally open on weekends... and they do JUST a gender scan (with a few pictures) for pretty cheap. A place here in KY offered the "basic gender scan" package, which was like ten minutes looking at the baby, and four print outs, for like $50. You could do that next week!!!

DO IT!!!

I felt the same way, Shannon. I couldn't even begin the imagine a little girl. It's not that I had a preference, it's just I had the overwhelming 'boy feeling', lol.

Just an fyi about the early gender u/s- try to wait until 18 weeks if you can manage. I went in for a 16 wk one at a place that said they did them that early, then when I got there they said the 'bits' weren't differentiated enough. That was such a bummer... I think it was much worse than having to wait a bit longer.

BTW, I get boy vibes from you, as well

Yeah, I know the 'big scan' is actually for developmental purposes and not necessarily gender determination so I don't want to rush that if the doctors don't think it's okay to do it at like 18 weeks. But I do insist that Ben be there for the first time we see the baby (since we haven't yet) and if we can't get in on a weekend then they'll mean paying to go somewhere else and have it done. I'm okay with waiting for right now... I'm not super anxious about it yet.

It's weird b/c a ton of the girls in my DDC were wearing maternity clothes at like 9 weeks and I'm still not... and lots of women, especially BTDT moms felt movement at like 10/12 weeks and I'm just so used to reading and hearing the doctor say not to expect to feel anything until like 16 weeks at the earliest... and people are posting freaking out that they haven't felt movement in like hours when they're so early still! and a ton of people were getting gender results at like 13ish weeks (all boys... we just now got our first girl like yesterday) and I'm wondering how many of those boys will wind up girls. lol.

I don't know, sometimes it feels like I'm posting in a DDC a month ahead of me even though I'm due on the 15th so right in the middle of the pack. I'm fine with where I am and not super anxious to not fit in my clothes, or find out the sex just yet... surprisingly, for like the first time ever... I think I'm experiencing "patience."

No your DDC seems WAY far ahead of schedule and to be honest, I think some of that (of course not gender scans) is just all in their heads
