Ive had them for a few years now, but its been getting gradually worse this past year. I know Im over weight and I smoke (not a heavy smoker, maybe a pack every 3-5 days?) I just had one a few minutes ago and its almost like my heart skips a beat then has a really strong beat like its trying to catch up.
I should go to the dr hu? grrrrr...

That's pretty scary, yeah go to your Dr! If it's bad enough they might want you on some kind of medication to regulate your heart rhythm.

I'd go get it checked out just to be on the safe side. If it's nothing, then you can stop worrying..if it's something, you can figure it out

Yes you should get it checked. They might want you to wear a home monitor for 24 hrs. But you only get one heart, so take care of it.

I had a long period of heart palpitations. I got the 24 hr EKG and a stress echo and both came back normal. It is worth seeing a cardiologist for the peace of mind. Hope you get an appt soon and kup!

I get them occasionally as a side effect of my heart murmur. Since nicotine is a stimulant, I'd say that was causing it. I'm not allowed any caffeine (well, weak tea is okay), so no pop or chocolate. And no sugary stuff. I also take hawthorn berries as a general circulation health boost and I think it works: I have less palpitations when I take those regularly (used to take 4 capsules/day and now take 2/day).
I say your dr's just going to tell you to quit smoking!

I get those occasionally as well. Never thought anything much about them since they happen rather infrequently. I would suggest you get it checked out though.
