DH is all crazy about buying our baby stuff off Craigslist!! I am all for buying used stuff(in good condition) but I just wonder what I should or should not buy used. What would you buy used?? Crib, change table, stroller, carseat, highchair, swing??? What should I look out for?? What questions should I ask.
Oh, BTW, I got $400 worth of baby clothes today for $30!!! I love garage sales!!

Pretty much the only thing I wouldn't buy on CL is a carseat I would be careful with cribs, bassinetts, and breastpumps...but would buy it if it looked to be in top notch shape. I LOVE Craigslist!

cribs and carseats I would ster away from.
Ive gotten lots of Kennedi off craigslist. I got her bouncer, a wagon for next year, bumbo seat, and clothes Ive looked really carefully at. Im pretty picky when it comes to used baby clothes.

I've had a lot of luck with craigslist. I bought a lot of nice things off of there for sooooo cheap. But I did steer clear of carseats and cribs, just because you don't know what they have been through.

I would not buy used: car seat or breastpump. I'd be careful about a crib, might only buy if I knew the model number, etc and it was pretty new and in good condition. Other things just depends on how nice it is and if it's easily cleanable.
Almost all of Matthew's clothes are secondhand with the exception of some gifts. I love it because there is so much more selection if you go to huge garage sales than at the stores. I love getting him things with fish, boats, cute little animals and I avoid the stuff I don't really care for like puppy dog and sports stuff.
Oh yeah strollers can get beat up pretty fast so I'd make sure it still looks like it's in good condition. I'd say anything you buy insist on looking at it set up and testing it out before you buy (like for a swing). I've heard of people getting burned if they didn't.

make sure on strollers that look in good condition, check the treads on the tires - not fun if theres no grip to go through grass!! I bought ALOT of 2nd hand clothes, Im very picky though, any type of stains and I turned it up.

I had originally bought a travel system off craigslist but ended up re-selling it before I used it because DH found a different one we preferred on sale at Target. I didn't feel like it was too big of a risk. I guess I'm too trusting..
I bought a lot of stuff off craigslist that I used, though. Tons of baby clothes, shoes, a swing, crib, and a dresser. I'm sure there's more but I can't think of the rest.
