So ladies, I just have to share this idea with you all. A coworker did it, and I'm totally stealing her idea! It's called a gender party. And here is the premise; I'm going to explain my friends party as an example.
She had her appt for an ultrasound on a Thursday, the big anatomy scan. On Friday night, they planned a "gender party". They invited all their family and closest friends over for a BBQ. The only requirement was to wear a pink or blue shirt, to signify what you thought the baby would be. At the U/S on thursday, they looked away during the between the legs pics. The U/S tech put the pics with results in a sealed envelope, and they took that to a baker. The baker then made a cake, and the inside had either red or blue dye added to the cake mix. He then covered it in icing, and noone could see the inside. They had the party, and after dinner got ready to cut the cake. They cut it together (like a wedding), and were the first ones to be able to peak at the inside. They looked at each other (grinning), and then yelled "BOY!!!"
It was the cutest video and photos, and I'm totally doing that with my next pregnancy. I just wanted to share that in case any of you wanted to use the idea as well

I think that's adorable. Unfortunately, I'll always find out through CVS results because I'll have to do genetic testing on every pregnancy. I guess I could opt to not have them tell me... yeah right! Me? I'm the worst with not knowing something when I could LOL.

I'm the SAME way. I have to know if I can. The other night we were out to dinner with some family and were talking about my pregnancy, the waitress asked me if we were going to find out the sex and I said "YES!! And early too!!!" and she goes "I don't know why you would do that...I didn't with either of my two kids...its much more fun that way..." and I was like "If I can know, I want to know. Its still a surprise, just not at the end of the pregnancy!".

That is so neat! Cause everyone finds out at the same time and no one has to keep any secrets (except the technician and the baker ) Thanks for sharing!

that would be fun!! Seeing as we want to be team green this next time, I think at the baby shower would be fun to find out what were having and have the guests know what color to buy!!

That's a great idea!! If I were to ever get pregnant again, I'd do this instead of a shower.
