I had a talk with my boss a little bit ago. He was asking if I'm still happy here or looking for another position. I was honest and told him that I want to spend more time with Oliver. I told him idealy I want to find something working part time. (If you all recall I already asked to cut back to part time this past April and he said no.) Well.. he told me he does not want to lose me and he hates turn over. He said he is willing to reconsider me working part time if it means that I stay with the company and don't look for another position. I also mentioned that maybe doing a job share would work so that my position is filled FT. He liked the idea of that and asked if I knew anyone who would be interested. I told him I would talk to one of my mommy friends about it. He told me to think it all over and come back with a schedule I would want to work and we would go from there. This is good news for me. The only thing is that it will not solve my child care issues once my mom goes back to work. I'm going to give it until Monday to think it over some and see what I can come up with. I also need to talk it over with Damon.

It's great that he's willing to reconsider his position and work with you to find a way to make it work. That is excellent.
Have you started or will you start looking for a nanny who could take care of Oliver from your home?

That is EXCELLENT news. It's definitely a step in the right direction. Even if a part time thing at your current job only works for a couple of months, that is a couple of months that you get to spend with Oliver.

Is this mommy friend of yours currently a SAHM? If so, if she were to get the job couldn't you two just watch each others kids while the other one works?

That is what I'm thinking we could do. I know part of the reason she hasn't taken a job is because the cost of childcare makes it not worth it. The only hang up I have is that Oliver is a hand full when it comes to going to sleep. Plus, I do cloth diapers and most people don't want to mess with them. My other concern is that I will be stuck in one place on my days off with Oliver watching another child. But, it could work..

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this works out for you! Even if you had to watch antoher baby in addition to Oliver on your days off, it's a step in the right direction, it is better than the current situation, even if not ideal. Especially when your mom gets a new job. I'm so glad your boss is willing to work with you on this, I really hope that you arrive at the best solution.

That sounds like everything you needed if you can work it out with the other mom! Definitely better than spending all your time at work, huh?
