Ok I know I just need to learn to knit for myself....I really suck at trying though. I need someone to hold my hand for a bit! LOL I think I'm going to try to find classes while I'm here....anyway..............
I need some cute baby knit hats for photos! LOL Anyone interested in making a couple bucks and making me some? Or does anyone have some cute ones they want to sell? I thought I would ask here before I start shopping esty or something (rather bring money to girls I know!)
I would love one with strips in Broncos colors (blue/orange) with a ball on top and the tie straps!!!

I could make that pretty quickly with crochet, but not knit.
I made this one for my gf's little girl for hockey games. Its a little big because it goes over the noise-reducing head phones to protect her little ears (and for her to grow into it). Plus it makes the picture all the more hilarious because I'm holding her and she is not happy about my opposing team gear, hehe.

I went through a phase where I wanted to learn to knit. I knitted a scarf for DH...then lost interest b/c it hurt my hands and wrists. But check online at meetup.com for a knitting group in your area. I bet there is at least one. That was how I learned to knit. They met at Borders once a week and everyone was really friendly and helpful.

I can crochet and knit but haven't ever knit a hat before. Here is a baby set that I made one of my coworkers (crochet). I keep meaning to learn to knit a hat but haven't gotten around to it yet. *smiles*

Ok those crochet all look knitted to me! LOL Apparently I just don't know the difference!!!
So anyone want to make me a hat?! *bats eyes* just tell me how much it will cost! I want a couple so if more then one of you says yes I will do one from each! Just PM me if you want the job! LOL
Can people crochet little pants then also (like diaper covers)? I always thought those were knitted also--so now I'm wondering?
How easy is it to learn crocheting?

This is some of the stuff I've made for this baby - I made some wool diaper covers (longies), they are on the left. The longies take a little longer (I also made just a pull on diaper cover without the long legs), but if you got the yarn I could crochet them for you.
I'm thinking about working some up to sell, so maybe a fair exchange would be me using London as a baby model since my little one still wont be here for a while?

I would TOTALLY take tons of photos for you! Since I'm learning my photo skills on my DSLR they would be website quality---I bet I can get breanna to help me tweek them to make them perfect for you even!
What kind of yarn do you use (send me a link to order it from and how much you need) and I will have it shipped to you!!! Your going to have to send me your addy.
How much yarn for hat/shorties/longies? Heck what other things you want pictures for your website--I may just fund those also?!
I can't believe all that stuff is crocheted!

For longies & shorties, it all depends on what color combinations you want. Like if you want a striped pattern or if you want the waist band & leg bands (for shorties) one color and the body another color.
The "natural" pants on the bottom took 1 skein of yarn (they are sized "newborn") but with how little London is I'd probably have you measure his legs (length & width at the chubbiest part of his thigh) & waist so I know it wouldn't swallow him but with some growing room. IMO, when making something by hand for someone else, its much easier to get measurements so you can get a good fit rather than make a blanket newborn - 3 month size that might not fit all the babies.
This is the wool I use, its 100% wool and easy to care for (and economical).
Patons Classic Merino Wool Yarn - 100% Wool : Wool & Blends : YARN BY FIBER : Yarn | Joann.com It is also on sale.
There is also a tweed kind that is not 100% wool (I think its an 80/20 blend) but it could also be used.
So for each pair of solid color, 1 skein would be enough. If you wanted multicolor (like stripes), 1 of each skein of each color would be plenty, with probably enough left over for a matching hat.
For hats, you can use pretty much whatever yarn you want! Any weight, ect. These are some of my favorite to crochet with:
Lion Brand Vanna's Choice Yarn : Vanna's Choice Yarn : Yarn : Knit & Crochet | Joann.com
Lion Brand Vanna's Choice Yarn : Vanna's Choice Yarn : Yarn : Knit & Crochet | Joann.com
Bernat® Cottontots Yarn : Bernat® : Yarn : Knit & Crochet | Joann.com
There is also quite a few more, like Caron's Spa line (soooooooo soft! but a bit pricey) but of course the website isn't cooperating to get links. If you let me know what kind of hat style's your are looking for, I can let you know how much yarn it'll take.

I am about to try and knit a hat for Phinny, and I was planning on getting one of these patterns:
Ky Baby Knits In-Stock Store
You can use crochet as longies/soakers too...I kind of prefer knit myself, but a lot of people love crochet! You can always post an ISO on DS too if you need to
Oh, and my favorite kinds of yarn are Cestari Superfine Merino, and Marr Haven Merino Ramboullet. You can get them both online in dyed colors or heathers, but I usually get them dyed up by some really talented dyers on HC.

Those are all awesome! I wish I was talented enough to do that. I would love some longies for Oliver this winter. How much would it cost to make them?

I need to learn how really badly. I'm addicted to Wool Longies now! I won a pair, not great, from a DS lotto and got a nice pair from Katie and now I want more, but they are super spendy, I even saw a pair for $150 the other day!

They are super expensive! Usually it's the cost of the yarn plus the cost of having someone knit for you...
Most of the yarn I buy is like $25/skein and for longies you usually have to get two skeins. Plus I like to have trim with mine so that's another 2 oz or so. Then I guess to have someone knit for you can be anywhere from $35 and up depending on how experienced and/or in demand they are.
You can usually find some pretty good stuff on FSOT though (on DS).
For those of you who want to try knitting yourself, this pattern is supposed to be good! I am actually going to try myself...just waiting for payday so I can get some needles. I have to start working nights again so I'll have nothing better to do at work.

Yeah thats why I use the 100% wool thats only $6 or so per skein. The variegated's are just as pretty as the super expensive stuff.

I disagree...but then again I am super picky
Here are some of the woolies I have stashed up for this fall:
Mosaic Moon "Birthday Boy"
Mosaic Moon "Three Kings"
Mosaic Moon "Dragon's Lair"
The top one is on Cestari and the bottom two are on Marr Haven. My two absolutel favorite yarns ever...they are so soft and squishy and they work really well for diaper covers!

Darn it! Those longies are soo cute. I want a couple pair for Oliver this fall/winter. I found someone on etsy that makes them for a good price. $25-30 and sometimes includes a matching hat. She uses recycled sweaters.
I would use a prefold with a snappi and then the longies over them right? I gave my snappi to Angela because I never got the hang of folding the diaper and using it. Also, is the wool itchy? I have never been able to wear wool because it makes me itch and get all red.
