Ill add a picture when she gets up - but Morgan had an inflamed zit type thing yesterday on the inside of her thigh (well almost inside) so...I popped it. This morning it looked as though it closed up but there is this semi hard mass thats about the size of a baby's fist, and its hot to the touch, Im wondering if me squeezing it (just enough to see if I could get anything out) made it worse? poor kid has to walk bull legged so her pull up doesnt rub againced it, otherwise I think shed be fine - and she wont let me touch it - I probably terrorized the poor child!! So do you think this is a bug bite? Im really scared because we had a friend who had MRSA live near us but was always over last year, and I know MRSA can lay dormant. I wish I had a picture to post....

Yeah it probably was just a bug bite, but maybe it could be infected.. I'm really not much help. If it keeps bothering her I'd take her to the doctor..

I know this isn't going to make you feel any better, but my neighbor's child has MRSA and his infections sound exactly like what you are describing. For months our neighbors had their home, yard, and sheds fumigated for bugs, specifically spiders, because they thought they were spider bites covering his legs.
Of course, that being said, it also sounds like a spider bite which is far more likely than MRSA.

if it is MRSA this is the VERY FIRST outbreak weve seen, and my friend NEVER EVER shared food or drinks and I always made sure she washed her hands before touching the kids.

Either way, it sounds like it could be infected. I would take her in just in case. Poor thing

It does dound infected. I'd just make an appt with her ped and get her in as soon as you can. If she started running a fever or getting otherwise sick, take her into the ER.

see a doctor now and get antibiotics. If little red finger/tentacle things start sprouting outward from the area, you need to go to the ER.

I got bit by a spider in college. It was on the back of my knee and looked like a mosquito bite, except 4 or 5 inches in diameter. I was put on antibiotics and got a prescription cream. It itched like the dickens, too.

its not seeming to affect her, shes running and playing just fine - the surrounding area is red in shape and doesnt have the streaking like hubby is worried about. its gone down ALOT since yesterday. Im leary of the creams as they all have steroids in them

I honestly wouldn't squeeze it.. I could spread the infection.. What you should do is take a sharpie and draw around the outside of the affected area.. If you see the redness go pass the mark you made, it's infected and spreading and then I would take her in.. If it's not, I would just wait it out.. And no need for steroid creams.. If she's not bothered by it.. I'd just leave it alone..
