This month we did the 7dpo progesterone draw, and a TSH. My progesterone was only 5.6
I know that's really too low. I havn't talked to the doctor yet (i'm a bad pt and looked up my results in the hospital computer system) but i know thats too low. Unfortunately my doctor's office is closed on fridays anyhow.

I'm wondering if low progesterone had anything to do with my loss. I think at 12 DPO i was 12.4

Anyone have experience with low progesterone? I have the suppositories in the fridge from this last pregnancy... are these the same thing you'd use for a luteal phase defect?

I have no idea about the levels and I really don't know much about pregesterone either but I do recall some ladies having to use something to increase their progesterone levels in early pregnancy.

I have no idea what the prog. norms are. But if they are low, I think they can sometimes fix it with the suppositories. But I dont know if they are a sure fix or just 'may help.'

I'm not sure, I just wanted to give you . I know they go by your lowest draw as "lowest". 12 or better is pregnancy according to Quest Diagnostics.

I'm no dr, but looking back through all the tests I've had done, I would say that low progesterone is my issue too. I havent been back to the dr since our loss, but I'll be going back in about a month or so. I hope someone here can answer your question, just wanted you to know you arent alone!

I know that low progesterone can be the cause of early miscarriage. I've never had low progesterone, but all the other signs of a LPD, even though I seemed to get pregnant easily this time. Hopefully your doctor can give you more insight, and maybe put you on progesterone during your LP?

I think I read somewhere that as long as your prog is 10.5 or maybe its 11 during pg you are fine. I have o idea what mine was but I know my prog was off the whole time my af was off otherwise I wouldn't have needed the provera.

Generally, at a 7DPO draw they want to see 10 or higher. 15 is better. During early pregnancy (like 14-17 DPO - when most people are getting first betas drawn), they want 20 or higher. Those are ideals, not mandatory minimums. A lower level does not equate perfectly with m/c but it does indicate the possibility of problems. This would be likely to be related with a short LP. I'm not sure if the docs prescribe the exact same supplemental progesterone for both. I'll refer you to your doc on what to take. My guess is you will be prescribed something during your LP any month you're TTC in order to boost your progesterone and cut your risk of early loss.

Think of this not as bad news, but as just news. Now you're aware of something that could have been causing your loss, and awareness means you can do something about it. So it's really a positive step in your TTC process. I definitely understand the bittersweet feeling you get when you find out what is really going on. It's partly a shock and a disappointment, and partly an "AH-HA!" moment. But this is a relatively easy-to-correct one, compared to the whole gamut of things that people deal with when TTC. Good luck with the next step hon.

Thanks ladies. I'm feeling a little more positive now. Maybe once we fix this I'll actually be able to not only get pregnant, but carry a baby to term.
