Should I even make one to get my beta's checked? I am already stressing about a m/c, just because its always a possibility. I have no signs of one, no bleeding or bad cramping. I just dont think I should add the extra stress of waiting on numbers unless I FEEL something is wrong. My first u/s and appt is October 15th.

I didn't see a doctor or have blood work with my girls till around 11 weeks. I personally thought it added more stress to the fears of miscarriage. I got blood work done at 11 weeks but it wasn't for betas, it was just the 1st trimester screening

My doc didn't have me come in for beta numbers. I went in at 8 weeks to meet with a NP. Our next appointment was at 12 weeks and we got an ultrasound because my doc had a hard time finding the heartbeat.
There isn't much that they can do and getting the numbers will not help with anything. Try to relax. Most likely everything will turn out fine.

I went in at 4w5d just to get my blood drawn to ensure there were no complications. They also checked my betas. I was reluctant to get in early.

I got betas drawn with the first two pregnancies and found that with the first one, the betas were initially fine, more than doubled and were right on track. It didn't correlate with the fact that it ended in miscarriage. The second time, I got the betas drawn as I began spotting, and that one ended quickly so the betas didn't even matter to me.
With this pregnancy, I didn't even call the doctor until 8 weeks. I did not have betas drawn and I'm glad I didn't. I found it was less stressful that way. Especially since even if they were good, I knew I would be second-guessing them due to my experience the first time around. I'll never do betas again, personally.

I haven't had my betas checked this time around even though i've been through a m/c. I haven't had any bleeding like the last time so i've just assumed all is well and am waiting it out until my first appt (in 2 days!! )

I agree with the other gals...do not go and get betas. I didn't with Nora and just waited it out until my first appt. With Harrison I did get betas but only because we had no idea how far along I was due to my highly irregular cycle and my surprise positive pregnancy blood test when I was being tested for why I wasn't having a regular period. I know its hard waiting...but its worth waiting!

Don't get it done. It just causes so much stress when there is nothing that can be done based on the results.
My first appt was at 7 wks. I never had even the first beta drawn. I was happy enough to see my little bean with a heartbeat at that point.

Great, thanks ladies!!! Its just scary with your first, I guess. This crampiness is making me paranoid, but the midwife told me it sounded completely normal.

Hey, as long as its normal....I dont care! It just keeps moving from mainly my right side, to the middle, to the right, back to the middle, and does it all over again. Oh, it goes into my back sometimes too...ugh. The midwife said that could be caused from the position of my uterus.

That could be true. And I also bet that you O'ed from your right tube.
As long as its not painful you should be fine. FYI I only had my blood drawn and betas checked b/c they didnt do urine pg test, only blood. They werent going to tell me my betas (anything over 1600 meant everything was okay) but I asked anyway.

See, I thought i O'd from my left ovary...but it was still so new to me, so who knows. I feel much better talking to the midwife and just remembering to stay calm because worrying will NOT help anything.

I had my blood drawn the day that I got my BFP just to confirm the pregnancy, but I never did any repeat betas. I never even knew what the number was that day, they just confirmed that I was preggo

I also had my blood drawn after getting my BFP, but only b/c my urine test at the hospital came back neg. But its was just a preg confirmation blood draw, no others were drawn.
My first apt wasnt until 10 wks and I got to see the little baby on u/s. Way better than betas! Seems like they just make people stress IMO.

After my m/c, I didn't have beta's drawn with this pregnancy. I didn't want to worry myself because I'm sure if they were even doubling, I would be worried if they weren't super high. I just waited a few more weeks and asked for an ultrasound at 7 weeks for piece of mind. Getting to see the HB flickering away was way more reassuring than any beta's would have been!

I was spotting and cramping, even bleeding at times, the first 12 weeks of this pregnancy, but I never had betas done. Most doctors don't do them. I only had my numbers checked when I had to go to the ER at 7 weeks because I was bleeding and cramping a lot, and then they just did one draw which put me around where I should have been weeks-wise. Just sit back and enjoy!

I would avoid getting betas if you are feeling good. They just made me crazy. I also found that the darkness of my FRERs were just as telling. When my beta was high my test was dark. When I found out I was miscarrying, the test was negative. If I could do it over again, I wouldn't do betas. Abdominal cramping is normal. The cramping you are describing sounds fine.
*Hugs* I know how stressful this time can be. Sticky dust
