Hello everyone!
Jack is 3.5 months old now

He is getting big! I measured him last week and he was 14lbs and 25 inches tall. Doesn't look like he will be a shorty like his mom! We are still ebf and it is the BEST! I just love all his munching sounds and milk smiles

It feels good to provide all his nourishment and watch him thrive.
I gotta say, once he turned 3 months it was like the fun baby time really began! I really love hanging out with him like we are two peas in a pod. He laughs and smiles a lot, and loves playing with his goofy parents. And we are very goofy. One of my favorite things to do is make a beat like in a techno club and then make Jack dance on my lap while he laughs his butt off. Hopefully it will teach him some rhythm! He has been laughing, grasping and putting toys in his mouth for maybe a month now, and is rolling some. He is also very good at holding his head up while on his tummy. I can even get him to scoot forward if I put a toy in front of him. I know I am a NUT for trying to get him to crawl, but he hasn't yet figured out that he has to move his arms so he just kicks and pushes off and tries to get at things with his mouth

Although yesterday he did move his arm to try and grab a toy while in the crawling position. He is a little terror so I wouldn't be surprised if he started crawling early, though I think it is a ways away yet.
This morning he woke me up with - honest to God - singing. I sing to him a ton even though I can't hold a tune to save my life. And he LOVES made up songs as well as CDs. Anyways, he was talking in this light, higher pitched sing song voice this morning when I woke up. Usually he just yells or talks REALLY loud until I wake up (I am a very heavy sleeper) but this really sounded like he was singing! I was shocked! Maybe listening to Regina Specktor all weekend had something to do with it? lol. Jack seems to really enjoy being verbal. I haven't managed to get it on video yet, but he really gets into conversations with me. He stares at me in the eyes the whole time, uses inflection, and raises an eyebrow and everything just like we are talking! Then he will pause and let me speak, laugh at me, and then interrupt me to talk some more. His expressions usually look like he is confiding in me or ratting out his dad for something, so I usually respond with "daddy did what?" and "you don't say! I don't believe it!" or "very interesting . . . you'd better watch out for the TICKLE MONSTER!!" One time he was laying flat on my lap talking to me after eating and started getting more and more frustrated. He wasn't yelling, but was really letting me have it. So I lifted him up and this huge belch came out. I put him back down and he just smiled and talked to me sweetly as if to say "thank you mommy". I must sound like a nut, but the kid really loves to communicate.
His other new developments are that he found his feet a week or so ago. He loves grabbing them now, and even tries to eat them. I blame Dustin for that one. He also kicks like a maniac when laying on his back, A future swimmer maybe? Bath time has turned into soak mommy with splashes time

He also really enjoys throwing things. At first I thought he was just dropping them with momentum (haha, I guess that is what throwing is), but he actually throws them. Then I bring it back, he smiles, and throws it again. I get the feeling one of us is a dog in this game. Babies are a lot smarter then people give them credit them for!
On the less cheery side, he is really starting to fight sleep more. He just starts kicking like a crazy man. He has some really good strength too. There are a couple of toys he has that are a bit heavy for a 3 month old, and he lifts them with one hand like they are nothing, and tosses them 3 feet sometimes! I think I know where he got that strength - we swaddle him at night and he struggles all night long in his sleep, so much so that he usually manages to bust out of unbreakable swaddles at least once a night and we bundle him very snugly. So it is like resistance strength training when he is struggling against it all night - like baby pilates!

Anyways, his sleep has been off and on, and for a few weeks he was sleeping terribly. He would wake up 3-4 times a night to eat like he did as a newborn and I was such a zombie. But for the past 4 nights he is back to only waking once! Yay! He just eats and goes back to sleep. Hopefully it continues to improve, at least until we hit the next growth spurt.
Anyways, that is Jack's update! Motherhood is just awesome. It is so much better then I ever imagined it would be and I feel like the happiest, luckiest mom to have Jack. Sometimes I don't feel I deserve him. But he is mine
Wow that was long.
