I am posting this everywhere b/c I am so frustrated.
I feel like a babywearing reject! Anyone here use the Ergo carrier? I wanted to use it at the zoo yesterday, and I wanted Jack facing out so he could see everything. Well, I do no see how his legs are supposed to fit in this thing comfortably! HE looks like he is doing a weird splits b/c the carrier is really wide. Am I missing something? Anyone have pics of their kids in it?

I believe the Ergo is designed to have the baby facing inwards only. It's actually the reason why we aren't buying one.

Awh man I hope not! Maybe I confused it with the Bjorn I returned? At least I wasn't the one that bought it if that's true. I am so annoyed. I have a babywearing rant a-brewing!
Ok, it has been verified by you and Lindsey that it in fact only faces inward. Jack is not a fan of facing in anymore so sucks for me.
Honestly, every carrier has turned into a bunch o crap for me. He either likes it for a few weeks and then hates it, or it just doesn't work. Well now I know why God gave me arms.

I used a carrier with Gemma once and hated it! Only used my arms or her carseat/travel system thing from then on. Sorry it's not working!

This is from the FAQ regarding Ergo carrier (we have one and love it)
"Can the baby face out when he is in the front carrier?
No. The Ergo is designed so that your baby is carried in a seated position which supports the spine by dispersing the weight of the head over the hips, thighs and spine. Because of this healthy and Ergonomic design, it is not possible to wear your baby facing out."
Now - you can wear the baby on the back when he gets a little bigger and than he can see....you can also wear the baby on your hip and he'll be able to see around too. To be honest I think its designed this way because there really is no way to wear a baby on the front facing out that is good for their hips, back, etc. The carriers that do that aren't suppose to be good for their little bodies (but I don't know this for a fact - the ergo is the only one I've ever had).
Good luck Michelle!

I don't know why I didn't know this before. I swear my brain is MUUUUUUSH! Blech. Tell me it isn't just me. Jack depleted my neurons, right? I blame the baby. He looks innocent but I know he has something to do with it. I can see him smirking out the corner of my eye when I have a brain fart.

Aw, I'm sorry. I really really love my Ergo. It's the best baby item EVER in my opinion. I actually like that it only has the baby face inwards. I hope you get something figured out soon!

Ya I borrowed my friends for our trip so we could use it as a back pack but we really couldn't figure it out and just didn't look right. I have a Bjorn also and used that with Cambria for a long time. She liked it BUT she's also eaten the top part of it, so we dont use that anymore. She didn't mind the Ergo, but she also loves being faced out.

I LOVE my ergo. Alexa loves facing inwards- sure she likes to look around- but she doesn't know any other carriers. Well the moby too but that's inwards. I use my ergo everyday!!! And its so comfy unlike many other carriers- BB incleded. I can wear her for many hrs hiking with no probs!!! Good luck!

My brain is mush since having Oliver too.
I bought the Ergo months ago and Oliver hated it. I was able to return it. Oliver prefers to face out also. The only carry his ever liked was the bjorn. We still use it on occasion.

LOL she sure is chillin Fi! I have a moby but it is both too hot for AZ (although it just got much cooler here), it is way too much excess material for me which is annoying, and I didn't know how to face out (thx for the video links!) . Maybe I will make one with thinner and shorter material. How many yards you think I would need?
Jack has never liked facing in and at first it made me so sad b/c I love it. He just wants to see everything.

Ok, what I'll do tmor is go measure mine. I'm by no means slim but also not overweight, KWIM? So hopefully the length of mine will be good for you. I'll put mine on with Kirsty in and get a pic of how much material is leftover, that way you can shorten it if you feel the need? You need it stretchy though so it's easy to get Jack in/out and get him and you comfy.
PM me so I don't forget

Aww sorry the Ergo isn't working for you. I just bought a Beco and I have been pleasantly surprised that Matthew seems to like it even though he has to face me. He likes to look at everything too but he just turns his head and looks out the side. My only problem is he gets a strap in his mouth and it leaves a mark on his face so I'm going to have to figure that out.
Oh and btw, do you know HOW many times I say the phrase "the baby ate my brain". It started when I was preggo and now I just continue to say it anytime I have a brain mush moment.
Edit to say I have a Wrap n Wear and I can face Matthew out in that carrier. But it is so hard for me to use, I feel like he's too big for it even though I should be able to use it easily for his weight. I just can't seem to get it roomy enough to fit his legs in there the way I'm supposed to.

I didn't know certain front-carrying positions were so "horrible" (I have been googling). I suppose everything is bad for kids these days. Sometimes the internet is so annoying. Maybe Jack will like the Ergo once I can hip carry him in it.
Fi, I wanna see the pics! Pming you
Shannon, Maybe I will try a Becco. Pics?
