Well here I am! 40 weeks!! I can't believe I'm actually seeing this day... I guess since I had preterm labor and so many contractions early on that I just didn't think I'd make it this far. Oh well!

I'm doing well. I really did think that by this point in pregnancy I'd be miserable, but I'm not. A little uncomfortable at times, but for the most part I'm just fine. I guess being active throughout pregnancy really does help! Plus I'm lucky and have a really long torso, which my doctor said is probably why I don't have much stomach discomfort. Baby has lots of room to groove in there!

I had my 40 week appointment yesterday and I'm still 2 cm dilated and 60-70% effaced - that's the same as last weeks appointment. I'm a little bummed that I didn't make more progress, but am still happy to at least be that far along at this point. She said my cervix is very low and easy to reach and that baby's head is rightthere, which I can really feel! lol.

I've been getting quite a few painless contractions, but nothing regular and nothing that sticks around for long. I also have a LOT of pelvic pressure and a lot more cramping than I had earlier in the week. I'm also still losing a few tiny pieces of mucus plug here and there. Never a big glob though, so who knows.

I could use lots of T&P's that I go this weekend. My doctor is available all weekend and I'd loooove to have her instead of someone else from the practice! *fingers crossed* Any advice on how to get things going? I'm already doing a LOT of brisk walking, I'm doing my prenatal yoga dvd every day, sitting/rolling on my birthing ball... I think I'll jump DH tonight to try and get things going, but that makes me nervous since so many girls in my due date club brought on labor that way because it broke their water... I'd rather not start by having my water broken since I'd like to labor at home as long as possible. Maybe that's all just cooincidence though. I don't really know enough about how sex works to bring on labor...

Anyway, so that's where I'm at for now!

oh my gosh!!!! yayyyyy!!!!! sending u tons of hugs & t&p's!!!
i think i read somewhere that sperm hormonally influences the cervix to dilate or something? this is by no means fact, just something that popped into my head!

i'm so glad you're doing so well & i hope you have ur baby this weekend! xox

I read that the spermies are design to knock us up and also to soften the cervix. Plus a good O can bring on contractions in your uterus....so softening + contracting are GREAT when you are where you are!!!!

Lots of labor dust for this weekend! I went over by 6 days but never tried anything to get things going. I guess you could try the eggplanet parm recipe.

Exciting!! I think it is awesome you are feeling so well. That will help you out when labor time comes. Which is any day now! Are you team green? I don't remember.

I hope things happen this weekend. You could try with the spermies or the eggplant parmesan.

Oh Lauren - I bet you are ready to be done....but you sound like you have a great attitude about being "overdue" (well almost right!) I don't know the feeling since I had both my babies early but I do think I went into labor with Nora because of an eggplant dish I ate a couple nights before. I had also taken one pill of EPO (evening primrose oil) the night before I went into labor with her. (With Harrison I was induced). However with both I had BH and some dilation as early as 34/35 weeks and I have no idea why. You could try those things. EPO has some of the same stuff in it that "man love juice" has in it that soften the cervix like the other girls said.

However that baby gets comin' out I hope its soon for you! Keep us posted girl!

Still hoping something starts to happen. Man waiting is a pain! I've done yoga, my elliptical, walked the dogs outside (and it's cold!), cleaned, took a nap, drank red raspberry leaf tea... I don't know what else to do. Bah!

Today is making me really happy that I'm still working during the week... If I were just sitting at home all day during the week like I am right now I think I would go psycho.
