I'm back! We had a great weekend. DH didn't think we needed a decoy gift for my stepmom's b-day because he thought he already convinced her we weren't pregnant, so we didn't get one. We got there late Thursday night and DH wanted to wake them up and give them the gift as soon as we got there even though her b-day wasn't until Friday!
So, we all gathered around, me, DH, my step mom, my dad, my brother, and my grandmother to give her my step mom her cards and gift. She opened ours last. She opened it, read the title of the book, had to think on it a second, then her face just went lax and she looked up at me. I shook my head yes and she jumped up and started screaming "are you kidding me? Your joking! Really??" Then the tears came. Then she handed the book off to my dad and he did the same thing! They were both so happy. My brother looked like a deer caught in the headlights, and my grandma was just surprised.
I think I have created a monster, which is ironic because I always jokingly called my step mom my step monster. She formulated plans for this child to go all the way through adulthood.
I also told my mom before we went. She is a state away, so I just had to tell her over the phone. She was surprised but happy. I got a text from her saying she washed some baby blankets she has been saving for my babies, so I think she is warming up to the idea of being a grandma real well.

Awww! Glad to see that everyone is so excited!!
My dad is really young (44), so the idea of him being a Grandpa has him all skiddish. But then when he found out it is a boy (after having 2 girls), he couldn't be more excited in his own way. Sometimes it takes our parents a little while to warm up to it, haha.

I'm so glad it went well! Your step-mom's reaction sounds almost identical to my mom's reaction. So fun!

Aww! What a great reaction from everyone. You mom will warm up real fast. I think it's the state of shock and worry at first.
