I dont know if I had mentioned to you guys but I had my yearly check-up today, and I was gonna talk with my dr about my miscarriages. (she didnt even know about my last one because it was while we were on vacation to Florida and I got a + pregnancy test, then miscarried before we even got home for me to call her). So once I told her that I had that third one she was concerned. This doctor is a different one in the practice, not my same old dr. (thank god!) and I LOVED her. She was SO caring and actually wanted to help! I almost cried when she walked out of the room, and thanked her because I had never been treated like that, like im not just some young girl who doesnt know what im talking about and have no clue about my body etc.. She listened to me when I told her about my charts and how I do O, and I temp and I know when I O and I know im not just reading my + tests wrong or something. (which is how I had been treated in the past) She said she's gonna talk with another dr there and decide which one, but she is either gonna refer me to a fertility specialist or an infertility center here in St. Louis. She said she is leaning more towards the fertility specialist since we dont have problems getting pregnant, we have problems "continuing the pregnancy". So, she is gonna talk it over with another dr there and call me later today and let me know where she is referring me. She said there are going to be a ton of tests ill have to go through at first, then they'll talk with me about my history...etc. She started to mention lupus, and blood clotting disorders..etc and then I mentioned my mom has lupus she jumped right on that and said theyll probably test for that first then. I told her I was taking baby aspirin as recommended by the other dr before the 3rd pregnancy and up until I lost that pregnancy so that didnt help at all (if it would have been a blood clotting problem) but it didnt work so maybe its something else. I dont know im blabbing now, I just wanted to let you guys know how excited I am to move forward and for the next step in our journey! I have so many different things in my mind right now so I may have jumbled things together... Sorry! So im waiting on that call from the dr to see where we go from here, then ill be making the appt! Yay! When my new dr. walked out of the room, she said im sorry for what you have gone through, but we are going to help you...and next time I see you I want it to be because you are pregnant not for your yearly check-up! That was SO reassuring!

Yep, thats exactly how I feel Sarah. It is SO out of the norm for a dr. to treat me like I have half a brain! I guess when your younger than some certain age people think you should be when you have babies, then they treat you like your an idiot for even trying!

yeah i just try to be as informed and confident about my health as possible so as not to rely on the docs. i have a hard time trusting doctors due to past problems. but it is a huge breath of fresh air when you find a health care provider who listens to you. i remember seeing my chiropractor for the first time, and i actually cried because i was in so much pain and she was the first person to want to hear about the pain and all the issues surrounding it. she changed my perspective on chiropractors for sure.

That's so great you got a good doctor this time Ashley! I bet it makes a world of difference. I'm like you and never had a doctor treat me like I had half a brain--I look a lot younger than I am and always got treated as a child. Its a big reason why I see midwives now for my gyno and pregnancy care.
I hope this new referral will have some answers for you and you'll be well on your way to that precious baby!

Yay for a good doctor!!!
I just wanted to pop in and say if they say you dont have lupus -- beware -- lupus is HARD to diagnose. I've been told I have it and am treated as such but have never been "diagnosed" with it. I have all the signs and symptoms and a huge family history. Dont give up!

I'm happy for you! It makes a world of difference when you have a doctor that listens, understands, and is willing to work with you. It looks like everything is going in the right direction.

Ashley, I'm really glad you're feeling comfortable with this doctor. She sounds like a keeper. As for all of those tests they run... be ready for a whole lot of bloodwork! But I also wanted to say if they don't find anything on your tests, you may want to consider Jason getting a karyotype (chromosomal analysis) done. If we had left it at just me, we would have never found out about DH's balanced translocation. With your pattern of very early losses it could very well be a little quirk in his DNA rather than something wrong with you. Good luck!

Wow, sounds like you found yourself a really good doctor. That is so exciting! I'm glad you are feeling so positive towards getting the ball rolling on the next step. You seem to get pregnant pretty quickly, so hopefully once they figure out the last piece to the puzzle you will have your sticky bean soon!!!
