*This is not my birth story, just a quick update, so please don't post this thread in the birth stories section... I'll add the birth story next week! Thanks.
Alexander Dean Merritt was born on Saturday at 11:12 a.m. weighing 6 lbs 14 oz and was 19 inches long. Not bad considering he was 1 week and 1 day late! lol. I was scared I was going to have a 9 lb baby.
I'm in the midst of writing down all the details of his birth, but I'm doing it in pieces since I don't have a lot of time at once... Once I finish it I'll post it here. Long story short, labor and delivery went great. I had a few mild contractions Friday night but managed to fall asleep, I got almost a full night of sleep, woke up at 4 a.m. with contractions that were already 2 1/2-3 minutes apart, got to the hospital at 6:30 a.m., started pushing around 10:45 (ish) and he was born at 11:12 a.m. No epidural, no IV, no continuous fetal monitoring. It pretty much all went perfectly. I won't lie, it hurt like freakin' hell at the end (probably from 9:30/10-ish on my contractions were beyond horrible), but I went through it all for such a short period of time that it wasn't more than I could handle... If I had to go through that kind of pain for hours on end then I would have absolutely gone with an epidural and not felt one bit guilty about it, but a few hours was manageable. It was truly an awesome experience, especially pushing him out. I was a full participant in it and knew exactly what was happening when and it was all just amazing.
And yes, I'm thrilled to have a little boy! It honestly didn't come as a shock at all, as though we knew we were having a boy the whole time. lol.
I'll post again with more details next week. DH's brother is coming to visit tomorrow and then my parents are coming for the weekend, so I probably won't be able to get on the computer.
Until then, here are a few pics:
Xander and I shortly after delivery:
Xander 2 days old (we were going to avoid the paci for at least a month, but he's a sucker and would seriously just nurse off me alllllll day long if we didn't give him something, lol):
Xander at 3 days old and I - he's the one in the Moby wrap (which I LOVE):
