Somethings wrong with J.J

He just got over his 2nd cold (Just boogies and congestion -- we cured with giving him the last of my BM stash, and humidifiers) and since Thursday he began refusing the last oz of his bottle here and there -- we didn't think anything of it until it became him refusing a good portion of EVERY bottle he gets. Since Friday, he has not really eaten his usual 25-30oz per day. He's been eating more like 15-18oz. He just out right refuses the last 1-3oz (of a 5oz bottle). He has been VERY fussy when he is awake and sleeps TONS. He usually naps 3, 50 minute naps per day, but lately, its more like he sleeps all day except maybe for 3-4 hours when he is awake. I know for a fact he is teething -- he chews on anything and everything (hands, arms, toys, the floor, his car seat -- anything he can get into his mouth) -- but could teething cause all that or is there something else possibly going on? It's not gas, he doesn't have a fever, we know he can breath, we tried moving to the next level up nipple --- nada.

Advice/comments/suggestions?

Could be a growth spurt. Sometimes they dont eat alot during them they will sleep alot instead. Teething can also take months too. Kieran has been chewing on everything in site since around July at 3mo old and she will be 7mo in 1.5weeks and hasnt' broke a tooth yet.

sounds like a growth spurt. my kids didnt eat a full bottle at every feeding either - so keep that in mind. If hes congested still that might make him not want to eat. I would think that the nipples would soothe his teeth. Have you tried the teething tablets?

I thought growth spurt as well. Coupled with teething, he probably feels a little miserable.

Is he working on anything new? Like rolling, or even simple things like noticing his hands or toys or anything developmental? Milestones can knock them off too!

It could be teething, a growth spurt, and Fi's right... if you're noticing a new milestone, sometimes this can happen. Has he gotten any shots recently? I know that's a given but my girls sometimes get fussier 2-3 days after the shots and not within 24 hours of them.

No shots, no big milestones (he has been playing with toys more and more everyday) and rolls over both directions all day long, I am buying Hylands teething tablets today (they apparently sell them near me at CVS)

If this is a growth spurt its nothing like the rest of the ones he went through. He always demanded more food, never refused it!

*sigh* babies. Wish they could just be like "Hey mom, I'm fill in the blank!"

Yep - I was going to guess growth spurt as well since he's at a prime age - I read somewhere they have big ones at 3 weeks, 6 weeks, 3 months, and 6 months. That could be the cause of all the sleeping. And he could be in the early stages of teething, too. Ben started teething signs early, but didn't actually cut his first tooth until he was 6 months old.

If nothing else springs to mind, perhaps he's just feeling a little under the weather. Maybe coming down with something, I hope not though!!
