Hey ladies, some T's and P's for my hubbo please?
Last night he started complaining of a sore back. It was bad enough he had trouble walking up the stairs. I gave him some advil and got him bed, and thought that would be the end of it. Around 3 am he calls me on my cell phone, and tells me he can't get up. I go upstairs, and he's so pale and sweaty and quivering with pain. When he tried to move to stand, his back would go into spasm and he had tears rolling down his face. I thought he was going to pass out. Then all of a sudden he broke out into hives and they started spreading quickly. I gave him some benadryl and a vicodin (saving it for a rainy day). Hubby didn't feel much better after that, but was able to get to his feet (cursing all the way). I laid him down in my car (i have a hatchback) and we headed to the hospital. We waited around a lot. His BP was through the roof 170/100. They gave him a shot of something while I was in the bathroom, and when I came back, he was drooling, but much more comfortable. We just got home, and now his pain is controlled on percocet and flexoril. Well.. not controlled, but not as bad. The hives went away around the time the pain did. We have no idea what started all this though. I'm taking a couple days off, seeing as he can't even get to the bathroom by himself.
Please send some healing vibes for my poor hubby.

Your poor hubby. That sounds awful. Did they have any idea what it could be? Did they run tests? At first I thought maybe kidney stones because of the back pain.

Oh my gosh, your poor hubby My first thought was kidney stones too. My dad just passed one a few weeks ago and described the pain exactly like you did.
He is in my t&p- I'm glad you're staying home to take care of him!

So sorry Alice. Thank goodness you are able to stay home and help him for a few days. He is very lucky. Did they do an MRI or anything? I hope he doesnt need surgery.

They think its just wicked muscle spasms, and the rash was an allergy that spread due to the stress on his body. They think the blood pressure was a result of the pain as well. We'll be following up with his physician. Now he's happily doped up on endocet.
