DH and I are finishing up some of our last minute shopping and looking at carriers and monitors....

First question is about the carrier- I got an Infantino sling at the shower but DH wants a carrier like the Ergo? Is this the best one? Would this one be good to invest in? They are kind of pricey but I'm thinking it would last awhile??

Monitor- DH wants the video monitor? I think it's also kind of pricey but is it just worth it to get it and be done ?

I used a Snuggli with both girls and it's worked great for me. I have that infantino sling and I hated it lol. As for the monitors, I've always just used audio ones

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my ergo. Ok its DH's ergo but I steal it all the time! The important thing to note on the carriers is the crotch/butt....you want the child's knees to be up some and butt down. NOT a carrier where the full weight is on the crotch...its terrible for their lower back/nerves in the groin and testicles for boys.
The video monitor....well I don't use any monitor in a two bed apartment..I can hear him. I think its a waste of money unless you have a huge house...and even more of a waste for the video.

I have a Beco and I like it. I didn't get it till he was older so I'm still trying to get used to carrying around almost 19 pounds of baby. I think Beco and Ergo are both great. Just keep in mind if you get an Ergo make sure to buy the infant insert if you want to use it with a small baby.
On the monitors, I have a video monitor and I like having it. Matthew sleeps upstairs some of the time (we part time co-sleep) and it's nice for me to be able to see what he is up to. I figure I'll keep using it even when he hits toddler age and it will come in handy.

I'd advise not to use the infantino one, its been recalled in the past for latch issues and its caused a couple deaths this year (Baby deaths raise concerns about Infantino slings: Consumer Reports on Safety)

I made my own moby type wrap and Love it, though I would like to try an Ergo too.

We dont have a monitor since our house is so small so I'm no help on that

I read the same thing about the Infanto slings. Apparently a baby suffocated in one not long ago. I'm no help with the wraps. I have a Moby and am probably the only person on this board who hates it. I also have a Baby Bjorn. Have only used it a couple times (because Jax is too small at the moment for a carrier), but I like it a lot. Of course, I don't do 8 hr hikes or anything like that.

For the monitor I have this one: Amazon.com: Philips Avent Digital Screen Baby Monitor with DECT Technology: Baby. No video because personally I think it is a waste of money. Works great. The parent unit is super small and you can wear it around your neck while cleaning or whatever. It has connection even when baby is upstairs in our 2 level townhouse and I am down in our dungeon of a basement in the laundry room. Also, it measures the temperature in the room, so it makes it easier to keep the room at the recommended baby temperature at night. We also use the little nightlight that comes with it.

I had a carrier that was given to me as a gift which I used a few times. I can't remember the brand but it was Disney character one. I don't now about the others but I've always heard good raves about the Ergo.

As for the baby monitor, I use and audio and it works great.

The Ergo is awesome - we have it and love it! We had some cheapie thing with Harrison and only used it once - he looked so uncomfortable and unhappy in it. Nora takes probably the best and longest naps ever in the Ergo.

Video monitor = waste of money. It will just drive you bonkers watching it waiting for something to happen that never will....I'd advise if you wanna watch your baby - just sit and watch your baby face to face
