My OB just called to let me know that my pap came back abnormal again! My January pap did the same thing, but he figured it was preggy horomones and that at my 6w PP everything would be fine. I had completely forgot about it being abnormal until he just called me! He told me not to worry, but how can I not!? He wouldnt say what it "could" be bc he doesnt know and probably doesnt want to freak me out. He said if I didnt go to anymore doc appts for 10 years then it would most likely turn "pre cancerous" But I have an appt next week to go in and have him look around with a scope or whatever. I know he told me not to worry but Im freaked! Im so scared, I just keep looking at my daughter and crying. I really wish he would have just told me what it "could" be bc then I could at least prepare for something. He said whatever it is hell be able to treat in office most likely, meaing buring or freezing of the tissue! Thats got me really scared as well. I was bledding at my pap so he said that could affect it, but then why would I have had an abnormal pap back in January cuz I was most definitely not bleeding then!
Has this happened to anyone?

It hasn't happened to me but it happened to a friend of mine that I went to high school with. After she had her son she had an abnormal pap come back and they wanted to see her again. She had to go in for testing and I honestly can't remember the results, it's been 3 or 4 years now and we don't talk often, but I know they needed to burn something and she's fine and healthy now. Praying it's nothing serious.

I had an abnormal pap once and after some kind of other second test it turned out not to be a nything....cells can appear abnormal in a test but then be perfectly fine with further testing. Many women have HPV and that can cause an abnormal pap - its a kind of std that can cause cervical cancer but often does not. So it'll probably be fine whatever it is....good luck hun.

I've never had it happen, but I do know that alot of the time it's HPV but it can be cured if its in the early stages.
My mom had it though, and hers is bad, really bad but the doctor thinks its her age, he said the younger you are the better chance you have of getting rid of it.

I know my mom had a couple abnormal paps and she just had to keep going back and got rechecked and I think the 3rd time it came back normal.
I hope it turns out to be nothing!

I've never had it happen to me, so I'm no help. I know it must be scary, though. I'm hoping it is nothing serious.

I've had several abnormal paps due to HPV -- they have done biopsies and they always came back normal. My last 3 paps were back to normal. Sometimes if you are fighting off infection, your pap can be abnormal.

I had an abnormal pap once due to HPV. But HPV clears up on its own (well the once I had did) and when I went back 6 months later it was normal.
