Thanks for asking about me! Everything has been a bit busy lately, but life is wonderful. Being a mommy is about 1000x better than I thought it would be.

Jaxon is the easiest baby ever (so far). He never fusses or cries except when he is hungry. I think he would even be happy to sit in a dirty diaper all day if I would let him. He's definitely a little cuddle bug He is starting to make eye contact and will reach out for his little toy bunny... of course, making contact with it is still by chance, lol. We went to Frankfurt, 2.5 hours away 1-way, on Friday to get his US citizenship/passport taken care of and he did wonderfully. He only wakes up twice a night and goes right back to sleep in his bassinet. DH does one of the feedings, so I am only up once. Basically, I am beyond happy! Although everything is a learning experience for me and DH, it already is hard to imagine a time without Jaxon. My original due date is on Tuesday.

As for me, I feel great. I am getting plenty of sleep, have stopped bleeding and have not had any pain despite the episiotomy. On a tmi note, me and DH dtd for the first time yesterday. I was terrified, but it actually was just fine. I am still pumping, as bf'ing is not going at all. I have it down to 5-6x per day though and am managing to pump enough to feed him. I'm not against supplementing formula, especially if I cannot make enough or get to the point where I feel I am spending for time with the pump than my baby.

Now for some pics, taken at 3 weeks:

Awww what a sweet little man! Sounds like you are on cloud nine, Jessie. He is such a cute little baby! I'm glad everything is going so well over there.

Thanks for asking!

Things are going pretty well here, minus a few snags. I LOVE being a mommy and my little Xander is amazing! Unfortunately he has a minor case of thrush at the moment because he takes forever to nurse (usually about an hour a session, then wants to eat 1-2 hours later) and he's keeping milk in his mouth, so it's a good growing environment for the yeast. Therefore he's been a little fussy lately, which up until a few days ago he rarely was. I also have suuuuuuuuper sore and sensitive nipples (yes, his latch is fine - this is from the thrush, not latch/positioning). So we're both on antifungal meds for that, but it's been 4 days now and we're still not improving. Hopefully we will soon! If not I'm not sure if we'll have to try another type of antifungal med or what. All I know is that I now understand why so many people use formula. Nursing is absolutely exhausting for me! As I said, he nurses for an hour at a time as he takes a lot of little breaks in between and/or falls asleep, then he wants to eat again 1-2 hours later. Luckily at night he'll go 3-4 hours at a time, it's as though he understands that it's sleepy time and I can't thank him enough for that! lol. I don't plan on quitting, I just really truly understand how difficult this is. I know once we're past the thrush that it'll be smooth sailing again, though. Just a temporary blip.

Anyway, Xander is doing great! He can already lift his head and hold it for a little while and turn it. He's SO strong all over and extremely active. We have to swaddle him in a sleep sack at night or else he wakes himself up by moving too much. We can't swaddle him with a blanket at all, never have been able to, he just moves around too much. He's been able to locate Jeremy and I for awhile now and focus on our faces too. He also likes to swipe at my hair and try to grab a handful. Oh, and he smiled at us for real a few days ago. I'm confident that it wasn't just gas.

He's a little guy, but he appears to be gaining just fine... He was born at 6 lb 14 oz, was discharged at 6 lb 10 oz, was 5 lb 12 oz at a week pp (my milk didn't come in til late on the 4th day, so he lost a little extra but the dr was fine with it), was 6 lb 3 oz at 2 weeks pp and 7 lbs even on Nov 4 when he went in for this appt for thrush. I've also been assured that he looks healthy and is doing great. Lots of wet and dirty diapers too.

Sorry I haven't been responding to many posts around here. It's hard to get on the computer when all you seem to do is nurse! Heck, he's on my lap on the boppy right now attached to the boob! Not a great position to nurse in, but I couldn't stand sitting in my glider or on the couch for another second.

lauren- Thrush sucks! We had it for an entire month. None of the traditional meds helped. Gentian violet knocked it right out though!

Thanks for the updates ladies! We love hearing about sweet Jaxon and Xander!!!

Sounds like you're both doing great, as well as your babes! I love hearing about what awaits me on "the other side" of the birth. For the past month it's been all about keeping him in, and now I've got the green light for him to come out, and it's all I seem to focus on. Of course, now that he's allowed to make his entrance, he seems to be reconsidering. LOL

I am worried about the exhaustion and the possibility of problems BF... but both of you seem to be coming out ahead in these areas, so that's inspiring.

Lauren--- Two words for you (and your trush) Gentian violet!!!!!!!!! It wills stain so their mouth looks like they just ate barney! LOL My girlfriends SWEAR by this stuff. I hear its pretty painful. London love to fall asleep with milk in his mouth--so I do a little trick that a LC taught me in nursing school...when he is done eating I put my pinkie finger tip in his mouth so he does a couple sucks on that (and there for swallowing whats in his mouth without more coming in!!!)

I'm glad to hear your both doing so good!!!!!

Jessie- Great pictures! He looks like he is getting bigger! Sounds like you are super lucky to have such a content baby. Only having to wake up once a night sounds great to me. I feel like I wake up 20x a night just to go the bathroom now!

Lauren- I've heard thrush is really rough. Glad you mentioned it though b/c I've never heard of the Violet. Let us know if you try it and it works. Glad Xander is gaining weight and doing well otherwise. I cannot imagine how exhausting nursing every 1-2 hrs is. I admire you for keeping up with that. Does it mean you can eat more chocolate at least?

Good to hear from both of you, keep the pictures coming!
