So I live about 1 hour and 10 mins from my midwives and hospital since I moved. I REALLY want to go back to that group. Am I crazy to attempt that drive? How far would you drive to see your midwife/OB?

I would totally drive that distance to see a doc/midwife I know and trust. Then again, in this big city an hour drive isn't much... many people drive that every day to get to work! And I also don't have any children yet, which I'm sure would make it a bit more difficult to say the least.
Wow that didn't help much did it?

I'm at the most a 30 min walk away, so just mins to drive. I much prefer that.. but I'm a HUGE believer in going somewhere you love and feel comfortable!!!
Now for hospitals... I will be camping out in the parking lot for the last couple months of my next pregnancy haha. I've gone from 5hrs to 1 hour. EEP!

I drove 45 min for my m/w and our emergency hospital back up was 10min away. But I drive about an hr (when in my homebase) to get to our Family dr.

Ok cool! I have an OB that I could see that might be 15 mins closer but I REALLY want to see my midwives again. My last birth was an accidental natural birth, labored and delivered with pain meds that never worked, but I KNOW I want to go natural next time and she was such a huge support to me. I had gotten the epi at 5 or 6 centimeters and it never worked LoL. I know many people don't consider that a real natural birth but I don't know what else to call it I just know I felt every contraction and the whole delivery. It was such an amazing experience and I healed so much faster and I know for a fact I want to do it again. I felt really comfortable and safe with them so I want to go back to them when I'm pregnant again.

I would probably go as long as the drive isn't too hectic. It would be great to have someone closer but I think in the end you need to also have someone with whom you are comfortable.

Since we moved I'm an hour and a half (with no traffic) from my midwives/birth center. Totally worth the drive to me. Although I am terrified this time of not making it in time and delivering in the car on the way there! If I know labor is imminent I might camp out at my parents house since they're only 25 minutes from there.

mine is only 20 minutes from my house and 10 from my work. I would drive about an hour if I really found a great OB.

My OB office is in the hospital I'm delivering at. It is an hr drive in non-peak traffic hrs. It hasnt been horrible so far, but I also have only been going every 6 weeks. I'm sure it will get old now that I'm getting close to needing more frequent appointments. Not to mention I have to schedule OB attps on days off work...and I also have to drive an hr into work. So it will seem like I'm driving all that way EVERY day soon
I wouldnt pick a place this far away if the choice was up to me. I just hope this baby doesnt want to come out during rush hr or we will be doomed. It could take 2-3 hrs in bad traffic.

I know some people come over an hour drive to see my family doc (who is also an OB.) because they love him so much. If I moved and he was still working when I get pregnant, I would definitely drive to see him. as it is, if we have kids in the next few years i'll be about a half hour/45 minute drive. if it's within the next year or so... about 10 minutes.

I drove about 30 mins to my doc but from work it was closer to 45 mins. If it were me I would do the drive if I could not find another group that I liked.

Thanks ladies! The OB that delivered Taylor, I lived 35 mins from, was a good guy but I MUCH preferred the midwives/OBs who I saw for Rylie. At the time I was pregnant with Rylie I only lived 10 mins from the hospital and their office.

I'm no help...my midwife office is about 5 minutes, if that, driving from my apartment. It's JUST out of range of walking to!
