Ok I get I'm having a girl and there's a lot of pink out there but does everything have to be pink? I was at Babies R Us today to get changing pads and all they had girly was pink. I did get a gender neutral green set too but the print was a little boyish (not that I care about that). Ian and I have bought practically nothing for her, it's been mostly our Moms that have gotten clothes and blankets and whatnot. They know pink is not my favorite so they *try* to find other colors first but I still have a crapload of pink here! And my MIL thinks I'm being ridiculous for not wanting anything that says "Princess" or "Diva" or "Glamor" on it. I also hate all animal prints. I guess it's just me being picky but it's getting old. My Mom has done a good job of finding other colors but my MIL will always get pink. Maybe because she's been really irritating me recently so I'm more annoyed but she rolled her eyes at me today when I wouldn't let her get a pink towel for Lila that said "Princess" on it with a big crown and I won't let her refer to her as "the princess." Ugh, can you say hormones? I can't seem to shake this bad mood!

I TOTALLY hear you Jenn - I hate pink and I was totally committed to having my daughter be pink free - and girly free - remember how nuts I was about the crib bedding....which I did finally find that cute purple, blue and green one with strips and dots! Well the clothes are totally almost all pink, and she now has ruffles and hair bows, and all sorts of princess stuff. Harrison calls her "my princess" and it just melts my heart. Wait till your boys meet "their princess" - you'll love it then....TRUST ME....once you realize you can't avoid it and its part of nature - you'll embrace it! If I could do it - you can do it!

I'm sorry you're feeling kinda out of sorts. I hate when people don't respect your choices.

I hope so! You give me hope!

I've never really been a fan of pink so I know that has something to do with it and growing up I avoided the color like the plague! I'm ok with it just don't love it or want a ton of it on my daughter.

I think maybe part of it is the comments I get whenever I say it's a girl. I mostly get "Aw, you finally got your girl!" or "You needed a girl to shake things up some." Never have I ever even eluded to the fact that I preferred a girl over a boy--I would have been completely thrilled with either gender! I am excited to be having a girl but I would have been just as excited if this was our third boy. Heck, I'm just thrilled to be having a baby! I know for my MIL it comes from her never having a girl (2 sons) and wanting one but that was never an issue for me. I just don't want her doted on and the boys left out simply because she's the girl and a "little princess." There was not much excitement when I had Lochy because he was another boy and I'm just afraid they'll get overshadowed. I think all the pink just really hit a nerve with me today. Like why does it have to be so much more special I'm having a baby because she's a girl? I can guarantee our families wouldn't be this excited if this was our third boy.

Ok, vent over. Did I mention my bad mood?

I'm sorry you don't like the color pink that much.. I on the other hand do.. Pink goes vary well with my daughter olive skin tone.. But I also have the opposite problem.. I have problems finding cute boys stuff.. There's so many cute girl stuff out there. I always end up buying something for my daughter then for my son.. lol It took me almost 9 months to find the perfect hospital picture outfit for my son and 6 months for his baby quilt. **Pictures in sig**. With my daughter I found her stuff within a month of finding out I was having a girl..

I went with a neutral theme and then accented with pink. I was never a huge fan of pink until my daughter came along. Now I did pink a whole lot but I try not to buy everything in pink.

Aw Jenn! You would think there would be some purple or yellow out there or something! Pink is cute but can go into total overkill. If MIL wants to get all huffy about getting her what she wants then let her waste her money on it... doesn't mean you have to use it!

It is prevalent. My MIL went baby crazy at Target on Sat. and did find some neutral things in Blues and Greens though! Keep looking and good luck!

When I was pregnant I saw clothes that was girly but not pink. I like pink so I would be buying a lot of it. But I'm not crazy about animal print and no way would I want stuff that says "Diva" "Princess" or "Glamour" etc.

I had to at your title! I am so not a pink person either. (Comes from being dressed in pink frilly dresses the first 5 years of my life...I had a grandma who had two boys and had always wanted a girl.)
Okay me personally, I kind of roll my eyes at all the Diva and Princess stuff. Or Drama Queen, etc. Princess to me isn't quite as bad as Diva and the like though.
I know my SIL who has a girl says it's hard to find things in colors other than pink sometimes. It seems to be a bit easier with boys to find various colors besides blue. But then you get into everything being puppy dogs and sports themed. Oh and trucks/construction vehicles. Can't my little boy just be a little boy and not a little man?!
Anyway, I can understand that you want your boys to feel just as special as your girl.

I never wanted all the diva stuff either but I see some of these portraits of little girls and I serioulsy want a purple tutu picture of her. I have her scheduled to get her six month pics in a month and I HOPE HOPE HOPE she can sit up by then so we can do the tutu tutu pic - otherwise we wait until she's 9 months!

I guess I'm the odd one out. I wanted a girl and I wanted pink and frills! Gemma is a little princess whether I wanted her to be or not! She adores cheerleading, she loves to dress up, she likes to have her hair curled, etc. Of course, she didn't have the pink room as a baby and she doesn't now. We had a Whinney the Pooh themed nursery and now her room is yellow/cream with a My Little Pony on the wall. But her favorite My Little Pony is Pinky Pie!!!! So guess who is on the wall?!?!

I didn't want pink there. So I went for Blk,Red,Green...But ya I dont like the clothes and things that have all that writeing stuff on it...
