We had our second scan this morning. The measurement of the thickness of the skin at the back of neck indicates we have a 1 in 4 chance of having a down syndrome baby. The fluid inside the extra skin extends from the back of the head almost down the whole babies back - there is very obviously something wrong.
The intestines also appear to still be on the outside of the babies body.
We will be having a CVS early next week. Kyle - if you read this can you explain what I will be going through? This is what you had isn't it?

Was very emotional at the hospital. Feeling totally numb now. You hear all these horror stories but honestly don't think they will ever happen to you. Thanks for the words of support, will keep you updated on the tests next week, but we are just doing those tests to make sure 100% that there is something wrong. Then we'll have a termination. The doctor said she can't believe I haven't already had a miscarriage due to what is wrong, but I guess it's good for us to find this out. If we did have a miscarriage, then I'd be worrying that something is wrong with me or DBF. This way, we know it was just really, really bad luck.

Aww bless you .. I can't imagine how difficult it is  My heart goes out to you ... apart from the downs and the intestines have they given any indication what is wrong with the fluid going down so far ?
