Just a quick question.. how many reception locations did you look at before deciding on one?
We have looked at 2 and we have an appt to look at a 3rd next week.. the problem is that I LOVE the 2nd place we looked at but Chris and his mom keep insisting on us looking at many more, even though Chris loved the 2nd also. I feel like if we found "the place" than looking at more is going to start making us 2nd guess everything, I feel like its overkill I guess.. what are your thoughts?

We just looked at one in person. HAHA. It was exactly what we wanted, a great price, and had our date available.
I did look at many more online and vetoed them for one reason or another.

thats what I wanted to hear! haha We both loved this place and I dont mind looking at the one next week because it is also in our price range, but the 2nd one we looked at included everything but photographer and dj and was gorgeous! The 2nd place was also the place that was fast at responding to me, and following up with us after we looked at it. We had asked for her to email us some things and by the time we got home we had received the email! Ugh.. I need to get Chris on my side of this! lol

We looked at 2 places. Hated the first, loved the second! I didn't want to look at a whole bunch of places and second guess/confuse myself. Once I find something I love I stop looking--same for my wedding dress.

I didn't even see the place in person....So I guess we saw none before we booked it!!! I did it all online!! He's lucky you are even looking at a third!!! In my opinion once you have found the perfect place nothing else compares and it's a waste of time!!

Exactly what I did too! I looked at a crap load online and only two were worth my time to go look at (our style, our price range, etc). And we went and looked at the first one and booked it right then and there!

Ya I didn't see the place either. We got married in James' uncles' church. I had never been there until a few days before the wedding We lived in another province.

well I've tried talking to him again and he got mad at me..
my mom is completely backing me up on this. Chris and I both said we loved the 2nd place. I've already agreed to looking at this 3rd place so I'm not going to cancel. The thing that is getting to me is that I am the only one doing the "research" on these venues, actually on anything wedding related and they have the nerve to keep pushing for more!]
So now that I know I'm not crazy for not wanting to 2nd guess our decision.. any advice on how to get Chris on "my side" and to urge him to talk to his mom?? My mom is irritated that his mom is doing this. Both of our parents have offered to help us pay, my parents have already given us some money and will be helping us with the depoist on the venue, but his mom makes all kinds of empty promises so I dont think we can rely on her for any money, which makes me even more mad that she is trying to pretty much run how we plan our wedding! GRRR!!!
I've promised myself and everyone else I wouldnt become bridezilla, and I know its way early for this frustration.. but seriously.. I'm losing my patience with his mom! My mom hasn't offered an opinion unless we have asked for it so they are completely opposite!

one place. It was exactly what we wanted, in our budget(actually under), adn the closest. I probably looked at 15 online and called about, but I'd been to several other places for weddings the year prior and knew what I wanted.

I think we looked at around 5. But we did it all in one day because they were relatively close to one another.
I say if you love the second one and it is within your budget, go with it!

If your mom is offering the deposit then just book it and be done. You can 'go look' at more but it'll just be 'for fun' even though FMIL won't know that!

We visited 4 places and ended up going with the last place. If I hadn't decided to just "keep looking" we would have probably ended up at the 3rd place which would have been nice too. We chose our location because it was literally like 3/4 mile from our new house that we had just closed escrow on the week before our wedding date and it was a tad bit cheaper.

We looked at none! I didn't even see pictures of it. I relied only on my mom who said it was nice. Anyway, it was totally cheap, had great food and could fit my small party (less than 50). It turned out super!
P.S. Check out the bathroom while you're there. Seriously--trying to pee in a wedding dress can mean needing way more room than usual and you want to make sure the bathroom is adequate. Our was just tolerable and I had a way small dress on--good thing I only had to go once!
