So things have finally settled down enough for me to jump on here real quick. I ended up not getting the flu, thank god. But the kids got it, with temps of 101-102. This morning about 1am, Ian came crawling into my room, barking like a seal - and I instantly knew...Croup. His voice was completly gone, and he would have crying fits if he had to cough - but with no voice all that came out were barking coughs and tears

this isnt the first time hes had it, but this has been the worst its ever been. DH and I rushed him into the bathroom, turned on the shower and sink as hot as they could go and sat him in the steam for a good 20 minutes. So after about 20 minutes I said no this isnt good, and I rushed him to the ER *thankfully its a 6 block drive* So from 1:45-6:30am, he was in the ER getting 4 breathing treatments, steroids to help open his trachea and a chest xray. He was about 10 minutes away from getting transferred and admitted to the childrens hospital. After we walked back from the xray (the tech said hes the best 4yr old hes ever worked with!!) he came back in, washed his hands and the dr came in and released us saying he wasnt breathing as hard, and that the steroids must have kicked in...What an ordeal!! In my opinion, I think he should have been admitted, with how hard he was struggling to breath, and how bad his coughs have been hurting him. But I guess if he gets worse I just take him back

Anyways, Im here, just cuddling with the babies, not to mention I need sleep. Well see what tonight has in store for us - hes super tired, still raspy breathing, but is doing a lot better. Night time is what triggers croup the worst.
