Kieran's small, (only about 16-16.5lbs and she will be 8mo on Tuesday), her infant carrier goes to 22lbs (snugride, normal), I highly doubt she will be 22lbs nor 29" at 1. But should I wait till she out grows it to move her to the MyRide 65 seat we will get her in Feb, or move her when she turns 1, the myride is rearfacing from 5-40lbs. I'm not sure. We moved Seamus to a convertible at 6mo but he was almost 19lbs (never hit 20lbs till 11mo) and almost over the height of his infant seat.
It is getting irritating to carry her in the seat, especially since dh insists on taking her into stores in the seat (he's become a butt with the wrap I made because it takes us a little to get it on he doesn't want to help me any more) which means she takes up the space in the cart/basket (we set her inside not on top), or we have to have 2 carts which is really annoying.

I would go ahead and switch as long as your new one is okay for her current weight/height! There's no good reason to keep carrying you infant seat around everywhere you go! Good luck!

Henry is in the Graco SafeSeat which goes to 30 lbs. He's about 20lbs now so technically he hasn't outgrown it yet. But I just can't carry him around in it anymore! Our car seat is already alittle heavier than the SnugRide (when empty). So right now, we're using the infant seat and just taking him out of it when we get to a store. He's just starting to sit well in a cart. We use one of those covers so we can buckle him in better. Can she sit up yet?
I'm looking into convertibles to put him in one probably this January.

Ya i took her out at a store the other day to change her then dh and seamus went potty so I stuck her in the cart seat(seamus is normally there cause he wont listen well enough to walk) and she sat just fine, not even buckled(we weren't moving)

Can you just take her out at a store? Still use the seat in the car but let her ride in the cart on top?

I dunno. I am not even sure of the limits on my infant seat. I suppose I should look that up.
I guess I would switch her now so he has to use the wrap or his arms!

My stage 2 car seat rear and forward faces, I STARTED USING IT WHEN KIRSTY WAS 7MONTHS OLD, REAR FACING. SHE IS TOO HEAVY FOR ME TO CARRY IN THE INFANT SEAT, AND THIS MADE MORE SENSE.
(scuse caps, Kirsty is climbing over me to see the babies in the siggies )

Amara's still in her infant seat though I have a convertible but I bought one of the shopping cart covers that I use when we go shopping. It's excellent!
I guess in your situation, I would swap her so DH has to use the wrap or he eventually gives in to letting her sit in the top of the cart.
This is the cover I have:

Adriana was a tiny infant as well (still is tiny at age 2) and it was a pain lugging her around in her snug and ride. I switched her to her Recaro Signo at age 7 months old.. Made everything so much easier. And with her Recaro seat, I could adjust the side impact protection as she grew.. So I felt vary safe with the switch. I also used a shopping cart cover for the store..

We wont use a cover its too much of a pain with dealing with Seamus too and for now she can sit in the built in baby seats next to Seamus. I like one of the stores(actually 2 I think) the cart seats have 2 seats built in instead of one, and some have a seat and a baby seat attached to it.

I switched Reid to his convertible seat when he was about Kieran's size. He was really heavy in his infant seat and I decided to just give it a go. It was hard for me to get used to taking him out of his seat each time but we adjusted within a week. He cried the first time that I put him in the front of the shopping cart but he has loved it ever since

If she can sit up well in the shopping cart, I'd go ahead and move her into the convertible. That way your Dh doesn't have a choice.
