The Baby Whisperer strikes again!!

I've used her techniques to get Henry on a routine, to get him to sleep when he was a newborn, and starting solids. So I turned to her book for help with Henry and his new sleeping problem.

I went to Henry when he was crying and picked him up, didn't look him in the eyes, until he stopped crying. Then I put him down and left my hand on him. Of course he started crying agian, so I repeated. I did this about 2 dozen times until he finally lay there trying to catch his breath. I left my hand on his back so he knew I was there for him. And I told him over and over it was time to sleep and I loved him. Eventually he calmed down and was soothed by my presence instead of cuddling him.

After this he slept for almost 10 hrs!!!!!! Hopefully it's not a fluke and this will goes as well tonight.

On a side note, I talked to Ed about how angry I was. And he said that he was amazed how well last night went (he thought we should just let him CIO and nothing would hel him) and agreed to be the one to help him tonight. It also helped that I read the book aloud and it recommends that each parent get involved because baby needs to learn to be soothed by dad as well. Not too excited about this yet cause I will believe it when I see it! haha

It's amazing how a good night sleep starts you off on a great attitude for the rest of the day.

That's awesome..

I wonder if that technique will work on a two year old.. I dunno.. 2 year olds are tricky.. I had to use the CIO on Adriana last week after the Inlaws left.. Her whole routine was all messed up.. Luckily it only lasted 2 days and she's back to normal..

That is great!

I use that tech with Jack and it works for us too (though he still wakes to eat at 4-5am). Funny I didn't know it was in the baby whisperer, which I own. I need to go read that again. Glad you got your rest and that Ed is up to being a team player!

Glad it worked. I know for a lot of babies, when they cry, just putting your hand on there back and rubbing their back normally puts them back to sleep. Its worked for a few babies that I've catered to, even Miki.

Adriana's Mommy, I know for Miki what works is that I'll put her in her bed and I would bring my laptop in there and just sit on the floor beside her bed until she eventually fell asleep (we didnt have a TV in her room at the time). Now I'll read her a book then cut the TV on, put in a 30 min dvd, cut the sleep timer on, tell her I'll be back and when I return she's knocked out. But she has a routine when we have her. She knows that its eat, shower, and watch a dvd until she go to sleep.
IDK if that will work for you but just wanted to let u know of what I do with SO's 2 yr old.
