My nephew is back! Crazy update!

It's been a crazy 24 hours! My sister called last night and said my nephew had pus coming out of his eye. I told her it was pink eye and since he has PA state medical coverage she would have to bring him back into PA to get treatment. I guess after that she called her mom and they went and got her, her BF and my nephew and took him to the ER. Apparently her BF ditched on them when they got to the ER. He told my sister that he was scared of my family and thought we were going to kick his azz or whatever.

We weren't but after that stunt we're ready to! Well my sister still wouldn't give my stepmom the baby. My stepmom offered to find her a shelter to stay at but her BF called and said she could come back. AND SHE DID!

So this morning I called her and acted like I knew nothing about what had happened. I asked about my nephew and she said his eye was better and then told me about the whole night. She said she was afraid her BF was going to leave her over it and blah, blah, blah. I offered to come down and take my nephew for the weekend, a couple weeks, whatever it happens to be until they get settled again.

She agreed and I left work and went and picked him up!

I took him to the pediatrician right away and they noted that he had bruises on both cheeks, a scratch under his eye, a cold, the pink eye, a knot on his shin, a scratch on his arm and horrible diaper rash.

They noted signs of negligence in his chart so that will help our case! CYS had already closed for the day so I took him to my stepmom's. (My sister only had 3 outfits, 2 sippy cups and a few diapers for him and I can't afford to buy him all new stuff for my house.) She is going to take him to the CYS office tomorrow and file a report and show them the injuries and diaper rash plus the chart from the doctors office.

Since we got him back my sister's BF apparently took off again. He's off drinking "to kill the pain" (her words, not mine). I guess my sister doesn't realize that's the sign of an alcoholic. She says he's just worried he can't care for and support her and my nephew. DUH! But I got all this by text so we can show that to CYS tomorrow too. My sister also threatened to take off with a DIFFERENT guy to Arizona if this BF dumps her so we're going to try to convince CYS she is a flight risk. If we can just get a temporary custody order while they're investigating we stand a much better chance of winning!

Please say a prayer that tomorrow goes well! My sister needs psych help and my nephew needs to be with us! Sorry this was so long girls! I didn't even go into details but I'm trying to cram 24 hours into a paragraph!

i've been following this (somewhat simular situation in our family a while back) and i'm so happy you got him back! i with be saying a prayer for you tomorrow

I'm sorry to hear he's in such rough shape Sara! I'm so proud of you for doing what I wish Aunts everywhere WOULD do when the need calls for it-- I know I'm a crazy nuts overprotective aunt but my 3 are my babies!!! PRAYERS on everything and thanks for the text updates!!

omg sara I'm so glad you have him back but I'm so sorry to hear about the state he was in. I hope he is feeling better soon, poor little guy.

I'm so glad you god him back. I really feel for this poor liitle guy. I hate that he has had to endure the situation and I really hope that you guys can get him so that he has someone's who's there to keep him and care for him properly. It breaks my heart to hear of children being ill-treated. It's so unjustified.

I swear this is like something off of tv. I didn't know this kind of stuff happened irl. It is amazing that you sister is worried that a guy she met a week or two ago might not be able to take care of them...? What ever happened to taking care of herself and her son? Hopefully if her son gets taken away from her she will get a huge wakeup call. That is such a sad situation.

Does your sister know what your step mom is trying to do at this point?

Wishing you all the very best. This is surely not a situation that anyone should have to be dealing with, especially not around the holiday season. I hope everything continues to go your way and that your nephew is kept safe and out of harms way.

My sister doesn't have a clue. I'm acting like her best friend so that she doesn't shut me out. I'm not going to lecture her or treat her like she's 4 (even though she's acting like it). She thinks I have my nephew instead of her mom but that's for the best. It will be harder for her to try and take him back if she can't find him. We can't legally keep him from her yet so we have to keep her in the dark until we have the legal uppeer hand.
