It's so very annoying. We get awesome gifts from James' birth mom. Really cute clothes and stuff... but she's just SO clueless about sizing! I got 3t clothes for Dustin and 5t for Curtis. I know she wants to buy stuff they will grow into... but these things are HUGE. Curtis can't even wear the stuff she buys for Dustin since he's just pushing the 2t stuff.

The biggest problem is that I have one dresser with 6 drawers that is shared between the boys. I don't have lots of clothes for them but they have what they need and it just barely fits it all... and now I have to find a place for these clothes that wont fit for atleast 2 to 3 years. If I put them away in storage I'm just going to keep forgetting about that. And every single birthday, Christmas etc she gives us BIGGER and BIGGER as if they are growing 2 - 3 sizes in a year or something? haha.

Okay back to putting away clothes... lol

Maybe you should tell her in advance of Christmas/birthdays what size they are in? Just tell her, "Oh, FYI, Curtis is size X and Dustin is size Y. If you want to get one size up that would be awesome. So that would make them size A and B." Maybe she'll get the hint!

I put clothes into rubbermaid bins by seasons (late spring/summer/early fall and late fall/winter/early spring). That way when the weather starts to change I just break out the bin for the right season and switch everything out. In the process I get rid of anything stained, torn, too small, etc. And I put everything too big back into storage. Hope that helps!

Do you think it's because she never raised a child to understand how sizing works?

Resi, yup. You are VERY correct. She is HORRIBLE with the boys. But honestly she is the coolest person ever, and a WONDERFUL lady. I love her to death... she just doesn't have a CLUE about raising kids, or even being around them. Of course take her out on the town for some drinks and flirting and she's the best to have around

Sara, I for sure could, and have a bit (but not super clear) the thing is that she holds it up and says it just looks SO small... haha. She just doesn't grasp how small kids can be

I would SO do the container idea but I have NO room. We are in a teeny tiny place so it's basically what fits now and what is saved for next baby.

I just have to be greatful for what I get haha. It's SUPER DUPER cute stuff..... just wont fit until they are in school haha.

My FIL's long term GF is like that. She is clueless when it comes to anything kid related because she never had any. Luckly she asks what size to get. For Christmas she got Oliver an outfit in his current size and another in the next size up.

Can you exchange the clothes for different sizes? Or does she not give receipts? At least she tries and means well.

Haha. I agree that she means well.

It's like my boss who had a florist send me a diaper cake with Stage 5 diapers congratulating me on Osric's birth. Now where am I going to store 3 dozen diapers for a few years?! HAHA. Oh well. It's the thought that counts.

Do you know where she got them? Even without a receipt they'd probably let you exchange them for a different size if they still have tags on.

No I don't actually. She lives right by Vancouver and does alot of shopping at specialty shops.

I really really like'em haha and I am sure they don't come in baby sizes haha so I guess I'll just have to wait

She seems so sweet...and clueless. I suggest telling her the sizes when a holiday/event is approaching.
