Now I have pneumonia!
Keep in mind, I've had a fever since Sunday, and now have a cough so bad, that I can't lay down without feeling like i'm drowning. Now with a 102 degree fever, and an old man cough, I had to wait almost an hour in the doctor's office while he counselled a patient on constipation. (I was in the next room, she talked loud, and asked a lot of questions) The nurse comes in after 45 minutes and asks if I was the one with the old man cough. I appologized and said yes it's me. She then says she has no idea what's taking so long. I start crying, and look at the wall and all but yell, "HE'S STILL TALKING TO THAT DEAF LADY ABOUT HER BOWELS! And my mom is waiting for me in the waiting room!!!" Apparently she actually went out an inquired if my mother needed anything.
Doctor finally comes in, and listens to my lungs. "Oh yeah! That left lung is full. No wonder you felt like you were drowning." I tell the doctor that I'm leaving for a cruise next saturday. He says that he'll give me a z-pack, but a ceftriaxone injection would make healing faster. So he sends in this very young, blond bubbly girl with a needle. The first words out of her mouth are "Ok! I need to see a butt cheek!" So here I am bending over a table.... OMG embarrassing.
With all my coughing, AF of course decided to show in FULL FORCE. I had a pad on, but no additional supplies. I go to pick up my prescriptions. The z-pack is all ready, but one of the meds is a narcotic... something called tussicaps. It's basically long acting vicodin for your cough. They tell me it will be 20 minutes. I'm feeling terrible, but continue to shop around, and get some juice, sherbert and tampons. I run to the bathroom, hand my mom all my items, rip open the tampons and run inside. Just as i'm putting the tampon in, a security guard comes in to investigate "suspicious shoplifting behavior". I almost bite her head off and she leaves very embarrassed. I explained I had every intention of paying for my tampon! I get up the pharmacy counter and this snooty guy says its not ready yet. I sit down and wait. About 10 minutes later he calls me back up and says "I'm sorry, we're mistaken, we don't carry that medication after all." I start crying, and the guy starts appologizing profusely and offers to call around while a nice lady checked me out for my mangled box of tampons and melted sherbert.
By the time I got home, it was 3 hours after we left. I coudn't believe it. Apparently do not mess with a sick Alice on her period. Things could get scary. (oh and dont' try to use tampons before they are paid for) Stupid people.
Ok, I'm done with my vent. If you read this far, I'm very impressed.

What a horrible horrible day! I hate waiting at the Dr office when I'm very sick. How are you feeling now? Did you ever get your cough medication?

Thanks for letting me rant ladies. I am feeling better. The evil pharmacist did figure out where I could get the meds. My husband went and got them for me while I laid around at home. The pills work great, but i dont' like to take them in the day time. I slept more than half the day yesterday because they made me so drowsy. I'm sleeping much better at night though. I'm just waiting for my lungs to clear out a little more, and dealing with the headaches that come with the hacking. i'm hoping to be able to work at the beginning of the week.
