My contract for the temp job I was working (back at my old company) was originally supposed to end on 12/24. Then they extended us until 1/12. I got a voicemail earlier that they weren't busy enough to have me come in today but to give them a call. So I called Chris knowing that they were going to tell me the assignment was over. Sure enough.. I'm back to being unemployed.. not sure how quickly I'm going to be able to find something, but I've been looking for the last few weeks since I knew this was coming. I think I'm going to be watching my friends 2 little boys starting next week, but for now that's only 1 day a week. It's going to be all under the table, but I'm not charging her much because her fiance just up and left 2 weeks before Christmas so I know she is in a tough spot. Its really just for the little extra cash, to help her out and to get me out of the house. Wish us luck that I can find SOMETHING for now until the economy gets better! Not sure what this will do with our chances of finding and financing a house since we were told that it didnt look good as it was that I was working as a temp.. our argument was that at least I wasn't sitting around, I actually showed that I would accept a job that came to me!

Please keep us in your thoughts ladies! Thanks!

That really stinks. Maybe you should advertise on Craigslist or something that you would nanny PT? You might be able to find something decent for that and then show proof that you're earning income to get your house!

Yeah here in MA our economy at the beginning of all of this was doing well, we started to fall back a while after most of the country. Our unemployment rate is still dropping where in some places I guess its going back up. I've put in a few applications places, a local vet looking for a secretary and a supervisor position at a bank I will hopefully be hearing something soon...

As someone who is currently interviewing babysitters and nannies that I've found on Craigslist... that could be a good way to go! You could use your other friend as a reference. If we lived close I would hire you in a heartbeat! Good luck whichever way you decide to go with your job search, and your home loan.

That sucks. I hope you can find something soon. There's a board on here that offers suggestions for persons to work for home. The money isn't always great but it's something. In either the Jan/Feb 09 DDC, there was a lady who was doing one of those online survey jobs and she said the money was really good. Most people say it can be a hit or miss but perhaps you can look into it.

Also, maybe you can see if there's a job similar to the one Resi was trying out for in your area.

I hope something turns up soon.

I replied to a post on care.com for someone looking for a nanny. I missed her call but I'll be calling her back tomorrow. I also got a call from a local credit union. They have a full time position available. Not sure if it's a teller or something else but I'll be calling her back tomorrow too!!
