Give me an update please I want to have an idea of what's coming for Jack. I am talking about Matthew, Henry, Alice, Chloe, Kieran (all you April babies), and the rest.

Jack is changing everyday, and I feel like I can't keep up. His first birthday will be here BEFORE I KNOW IT

I am especially interesting in hearing any progress towards standing unattended, weight gain, talking, eating habits, & crawling. Don't leave me hanging!

Well nothing to help you out from our side. Kieran doesn't crawl (still in the middle of the age group for that though), she doesn't pull to stand, and if we stand her on something and let go she falls, so we aren't any help. She can sit unassisted (7.5mo) just can't get herself into that position quiet yet, but almost. Kieran doesn't eat solids, we try because she wants them but she hasn't found any she will eat. And she weighs around 18˝lbs and is 26˝" tall
Kieran will be 9months old on Friday. Her 9mo appt is on the 12th
Shes got 4 teeth, the top 2 came in first and a week alter the bottom 2 came in.

Let's see she can now:
Roll both ways, and around a room
Play pat-a-cake alone
Clap
Point
say mama
Sit unassisted for 1+hrs
get out of the sitting possition on will onto her tummy
bang toys together

Alice is now about 8 and a half months old. I am not sure exactly on her weight and height, because she goes for her next pedi appt on Feb. 1st... but I would say she is still in the 95th percentile for height. She is probably around 25 pounds or so.

She eats anything you give her, really! We have started giving her real foods, and letting her pick it up and feed herself. I am interested in that baby-led weaning thing you (michelle I think you did!) posted about. She really likes feeding herself. She likes all foods pretty equally... really loves pasta! She slurps noodles like a pro! LOL

She isn't quite crawling yet, but she is reallllly close, and can get around well. She gets on her belly and pulls herself around or rolls from place to place. She can get in the crawling position but just kinda bobs back and forth. She can pull herself up onto the couch/ottoman and hold herself there, as well as very slowly "walk" back and forth on it. She loves to walk while holding my hands... we go down the hallway like this several times a day, its one of her favorite things. She screams and giggles while she is walking, so everyone knows when she is coming!! One of my new fave things she does is sit STRAIGHT up while she is sleeping in her bed! hahaha, its too funny!

Alice says several "words" regularly... mommy, mama, dada, nana, baba, bye, hi, hey, and her newest... ELMO! lol she will sometimes say Elmo when she sees her Elmo Live doll, or if sesame street is put on.

Anything I am missing? lol

Oh my, where do I start?

Amara's going to be 1 in a couple weeks. I don't know where the time went. She's right on target with everything and growing beautifully. She's very close to walking unassisted and I'm thinking she'll get there by her 1st birthday but I'm not rushing her. She's calling a few words like bye, hello, cheese, dog and thanks in addition to mama and dada. She's still a pretty easy baby and the only major challenge has been the waking at night.

As for foods, she wants to eat macaroni or rice with cheese and vegetables (carrots, broccoli, peas) and sometimes chicken. She doesn't want squash, sweet or white potatoes or plantain anymore. I recently tried her with fish but she wasn't keen on it. At christmastime she had ham which she seemd to like. Fruits are her favorite. She loves pears, grapes and stewed apples.

I've been staying away from giving her cookies and juice but recently found out that my MIL has been giving her cookies (low sugar) and juice. I could SCREAM! So I'm working on a list of foods that she can have to give my MIL. I remember telling her that I wasn't introducing juice until 12 months. I'm a label reader and my MIL is not. She buys what she thinks is healthy, so she'll see low sugar and buy it but she doesn't check for the artificial sweeteners and other stuff. Anyways, sorry...back to the subject at hand.

She's still exclusively breastfed though I will stop pumping on Jan. 20. Her birthday is the 21 and I will start to introduce her to whole milk and use the other milk I have stored. I will continue to breastfeed in the mornings and evenings or during the days when I'm at home.

I have no idea what she weighs now or how tall she is.

Henry is 8 months

He can crawl, sit unassisted, babble, pull up on alot of things, and stand *kinda* unassisted. He uses his thighs to press against things while his hands are free. And he has 8 teeth.

As for eating, he has Gerber 3rd foods and whatever else I puree. He eats alot of fruits and veggies. He LOVES to feed himself Cheerios, banana pieces, and puffs. He also is learning to use his sippy cup.

Oh and he's approx. 21lbs.

Harrison is older than 7 months (HE HE HE). I will say that I am preparing Nora for the following based on what went down with Harrison:

Working on holding and using a sippy cup (the one with handles on both sides)
Cutting first tooth
Rolling over and getting up on hands and knees....
It was also around Christmas time (so Harrison was 8 or 9 months) that he was working on going from laying down to sitting....that was fun.
He didn't start the little pasta finger foods until around 10 months!

Violet is ten months. WAAAAH!

She can sit unattended (that started around seven months), sit herself up (eight months), crawl (nine months), pull herself up to a stand (ten months), and babbles all the live long day. She has four teeth, two on the top and two on the bottom, and is in the process of cutting four more. She's still drinking mostly milk but does get a large jar of baby food three times per day. She'll sometimes still gag a bit over heavily textured foods, but she loves eggs, mashed avocados, and cottage cheese. Oh, and she also weighs 26 lbs so clearly she's not missing any meals, lmao.

It's been a little while since I posted pics, so here are some from Christmas:

My little man is going to be 1 year old in only 9 days!!!! How exciting

He's standing on his own for short periods of time. He pulls up on EVERYTHING and walks along every where using the wall or something. He just needs to touch it cause he has the ability to run I swear but the confidence is lacking hehe.

He's eating all table foods and has been for a while now. Anything bite sized. He eats EVERYTHING and eats lots. It's up to ME to decide when he should stop cause I know he would eat WAY too much.

He is still screaming lots for attention so I'm working really hard to get him to say things like "more" and "up". His screams are so high pitched it's really horrible haha. He's SUPER DUPER attached to me and my boobies. He's still nursing like a champ but he takes sippies at anytime as well. We are working on homo milk right now in a sippy and a bottle (at bedtime) and so far it's not going GREAT but it's going okay.

His sleeping is still awful. He gets up atleast everything 3 hours. I need to be strong and not give him booby but it's really hard when I know it would mean instant sleep for him and me (I bring him in to bed to nurse while I sleep uncomfortably and restlessly), especially since Curtis is sleeping PERFECTLY and is down by 8 and up at 8 like clock work. So no matter what kind of sleep I get at night I need to be up at 8, and no naps during the day since Curtis doesn't nap anymore. But I just need to do it!!

He's also got two teeth (came in 11 months and 11.5 months) and is working on a third!

Matthew can sit unassisted and has for about a month but only for a few minutes and I think partly because he doesn't have much interest in it. He doesn't pull to a sitting position yet. He gets up on all 4s but doesn't crawl yet but I think he's clsoe. He gets where he wants by rolling and getting up on hands and knees adn then sort of falling forward. He doesn't pull up on things yet. He loves to stand up but it's just on his tiptoes so he can't do it unless you are kinda holding him up.
He babbles all the time and he can say dada, mama (sounds like mom mom sometimes), baba, I think I've heard gah, gee, goo, puh, duh, dee (heard daddy one day), eeee, ah, and he totally says "sss" when he is trying to say "kiss" when he wants to give me a kiss. It absolutely adorable.
He still gets only BM for now but I may start giving solids after we see the GI specialist. I may want to just give him little bits of real people food instead of purees and maybe he could do that at his age?
I'm going to guess he's around 21 pounds but he hasn't been officially weighed since his 6 month visit. No teeth yet!

Oh question for everyone...what do you "count" as their first word? Like it's pretty clear that Matthew can say mama and dada but I don't know if that counts as first word since I am not totally sure that he knows what they mean? And then he says "kiss" but it's really just more of the ssss sound so he knows what it means but can't really say it. Do you wait until they say something clearly and know what it means for their "first" word???

I don't think it needs to be clear, but it should be something they always use when addressing that object or person.

Does Reid still count? hehe

He will be 16 months old tomorrow! My TODDLER! I still refer to him as a "baby" and have to catch myself.

Here are the basics:
-We quit BFing around 9.5 months (not really by choice)
-He started sleeping through the night around 7 months after a few nights of CIO He would take once per night usually after that (instead of ever 1.5 hours...) Even now he doesn't always sleep completely through the night. I had to comfort him back to sleep twice last night.
-He got his first took around 11 months
-He started walking 2 weeks after his first birthday

He loves climbing, being outside, going "bye bye", baths, feeding us (lol), playing with his talking Elmo, pointing out body parts, being tickled and wrestled, he loves whole bananas, pancakes, pasta and apple juice. He says "Hi Mommy Daddy" and will greet you when you walk in the door He loves doggies and kitties. He got his first haircut a week ago. He has 7 teeth now including 1 molar. He looks at his belly and says "poo poo" when he poops. lol.

I personally found the easiest age to be 12-15 months. He's a lot easier now than he was as an infant, but now he's getting bossy and whiney. lol.

So does Elmo count as Alice's first? lol she knows what it means, only says it when she sees Elmo... but doesn't say it *every* time. Does it count?

I love reading about all of your babies!

Lauren, I was the one talking about baby led weaning. I can't even feed Jack with a spoon - he always grabs it with his psychotic baby strength, dumps the puree, and tries to eat the spoon

^ Well atleast he's trying to feed himself... it's just he likes the spoon not the food! haha

I hated spoon feeding.. haha just let them do it I say.

Alice, I suppose. I mean that's up to you what you want to count as her first word I've done a bit of research on this (due to Curtis being behind in speech) and it seems that closer to the age of 1 (10months to 1year) they do real speech Mom is actually for YOU and Dad is actually for Dad, and not just a sound. But there are ALWAYS exceptions to that! Babies are amazing little things!

Rylie is almost 9.5 months now! She cruising on furniture, standing for periods of time not holding on to anything, she's been crawling for a while now, and she's always happy. She sleeps from 8:15 to 7:15 usually. She still is only saying dada and talking baby gibberish... at this point with Taylor she was saying look and other words. She's learning how to throw tantrums now too LoL!

And Shannon baby led weaning is good from 6 mons on. I read a book that outlined it all and they say to give strips of food and baby will bite what ge wants. I'm with u on no purees. No way too messy. But we are waiitnf til 12 mons. And she won't have bday party til 13 mons cuz we will be away from fam to have party and that will give us 1 month to give her food before she has her cake. Which I will make and it will be all natural and prob an applesauce cake. Mmmmm
