Do you buy clothes when they are on clearance for next year? If so, do you just buy a size up.. Or do you just buy clothes during the season your in?

Last summer I purchased a bunch of 2T jeans for my 2 year old daughter, thinking they'd fit for the winter.. Well, I was wrong.. They are long on her and they drag on the floor. I know she can probably wear these pants next winter, but I'm not to sure for how long..

If you were in my shoes, would you still get 3T's stuff while they are on clearance? or just wait and see?

Also, how long was your child in 2T? Do they grow much in height from 2-3 years old?

Sorry for all these questions.. And thank you for your help..

I buy the next size up for both kids. I'm buying Kieran 6-9mo now even though they are really long on her(jammies, pants fit cause of the cloth diapers), and when the winter stuff is clearenced out in the next month or so I will buy 12-18 and some 2t's (but I think the 12mo stuff will fit her well and the 18mo will fit her loose next winter)
Seamus was in 2T's from about almost 2yrs till just after 3yrs. He's now 3.5yrs old and can wear some 3t's but mostly 4t's (some 5t's even) for pants. I always figure buy them larger even if they are little long, pants especially since they can be rolled up, and then they last longer.

I buy whatever size Harrison is in when its happening...he's barely 30 pounds and about 3 feet tall....and skinny.....he'll be 4 on April 5th....in the last two months he had a major growth spurt and the 2T pants that were fitting him just fine are like high water pants....so out I ran to walmart and old navy for some 3T's. Most 2T shirts still fit but I've been buying 3T and rolling the sleeves...I think he'll fit into these next fall as well so we're good I hope. Since he goes to daycare I try not to buy alot of expensive clothes for everyday wear. I usually leave the nice clothes up to the grandparents to get for him!

I don't know if this helps but I hit the clearance if I can but I do not buy the next size up....he stayed in 2T for a while it seemed.

Thank you ladies for your response.. This has helped me out alot..

What's funny is my son seems to be a fast grower.. He's not even 3 months old and his 3 month clothing is getting a little snug, I figure in a month he''ll be in 6 month clothing.. I just can't win.. lol

I've learned not to buy in advance because I really have no clue what they'll be in for the next year. Liam just turned 4 and wears mostly 4T things (though he still wears 2T t-shirts and most underwear) and I roll things up. Lochy is still in 24 months and 2T and he'll be 2 1/2 next month. Most of those things still have to be rolled up and taken in though because he's so little (he's maybe 24lbs).

We don't have the space to be stocking up on clothes they may or may not wear so I just wait til they need clothes and buy what I can on sale at the time.
