Kieran's had a cold for over a week. Wedensday I took her into the pedi because she had tons of green gunk coming out of her eyes, the head pedi of our office saw her and said that it was just part of the cold but if it got worse to come back(this isn't our regular pedi, we have to make appts well in advanced to see her unless we are lucky and shes the one doing walk ins that day). Thursday is when she started running a fever, 103.5 got it down to 101.5-102.6 and was very very cranky and irritable all day and started eating/nursing less and less. Thursday/Friday night(morning) she woke every 1-2hrs and I changed her nursed for 10min and she went back to sleep and this went on from the time she went to bed till 11am. Through out the day yesterday I was trying to watch her to see if I could figure out what was up because she didn't want to play, if I touched her ever so slightly wrong she'd freak, she only wanted to be held or laying at the boob. She wasn't nursing well at all (ended up pumping 7oz between both within 20minutes last night), and I was watching her diapers, surprisingly for how little she was nursing she was peeing alot. And then I noticed she screamed and/or woke from sleep when she peed, I could tell she'd just gone because her bum was still wet from it.
Now where my delima is, is whether or not to take her in to the pedi again today. She has her 9mo appt on Tuesday and I'm not sure if I should wait it out and maybe its nothing or take her in to make sure its not a bladder infection.

If it was Conner, because I panic easily, I would take him today. If there was that much stuff that was out of the ordinary and not just a day of having a fever or something, that's what would make me take him in. Whatever you do, I hope it's nothing bad and she feels better soon!

I would take her in today b/c I too panic easily. Not sure how btdt moms would handle it. Poor Kieran, I hope she feels better soon.

I hope she feels better. I know that I've had bladder infections and I feel like I need to pee all the time, but only a few drips come out, so I don't think it would be a bladder infection if she's peeing all the time... though since I'm not familiar with babies, it might be different with them? Though the screaming does sound like it hurts when she pees You might want to take her in.

I am not qualified to answer this b/c I don't have a kid yet.
Right now I'd probably wait - but that's because I'm a terrible patient who never goes to the doctor when I should, and I never call about things even when I should. Since you were just there and they seemed to blow it off, and you'll be there again on Tuesday... and it's currently the weekend - I'd probably wait. But I suspect when Lily is here my answer would change. It also depends on how the pedi though... if they always kind of wrote me off I'd be more reluctant to go in too, kwim? Sorry, I know that's not a helpful answer. Maybe meet in the middle and call?

Ya I used to get them alot as a kid and usually get one once a year now (few of them while pregnant with Seamus)(and it's usually along with a kidney infection). Sometimes I could pee alot others I'd dribble, but I'm not sure with Kieran cause I can see she's wet but her diapers aren't like soaking or anything so I'm not sure how much is actually coming out especially how little she nursed yesterday. Shes, thanfully, still asleep right now so I can't check her temp to see if she still has one today.
These are the infant signs of on
- Fever (has)
- Irritability (has, very much)
- Unable to be consoled (again has)
- Vomiting and diarrhea (shes pooing 2-3x's a day but thats kinda normal)
- Loss of appetite (yep)
- Failure to gain weight (donno)
I called the nurses so I'll be waiting a few hours for a call back, its almost 10am so I hope they call before they go to lunch at noon cause if they want us coming in it has to be before 3 cause the kids have their pictures today at 4 in Washington

I most likely wouldn't go in, but I would call to see what they suggested. Usually they suggest us coming in anyways... so there ya go! haha. Let them know what all is going on and that you have an apt scheduled for Tues.

Fever is gone today, it was 98.8. But she's still not nursing well, only wants to lay there/sleep there but will only eat for 1-2minuts constantly. And between 6:30am and now (10:15 when changed) there was hardly any pee in there but her bum was wet like she'd just gone.

Nurse called back(Fastest ever I think ) and she thinks its an ear infection because of how bad Kieran's nursing and how she doesn't want to be touched. We'll see we have an appt at 1:45 today
