We just reached a decision pretty major in life. And yes-- it's the weight loss/towards a baby game-plan. I have been looking around to take a Self-Defense for Women Class. I feel pretty vulnerable lately and want to take one.

I still haven't found one but while looking on the Y's page, I did see that Mike and I could join the Y closest to us, with today as the last day for $42 a month, skipping the annual fee {the membership drive is 1/1-1/10} with today as the last day for that. The bonus of the Y is that is has a pool AND an exercise/free weight/Nautilus room. Mike is big on pools/lap swimming. Soo, if he won't to the "regular gym", swimming is clearly a form of exercise he enjoys. And nothing's to rule out if we go together and to the pool, that I can't drag him into the gym part to "show me what I'm doing" with the weights. But either way, I'm happy he's agreed to SOMETHING!!!!!!!!!! HOORAY!!!!!!!!! The pool also makes me happy because they have water aerobics classes starting and it may be older lady, but my knee has been messed up lately and I'm rather interested in that idea.

So, I'm going to cancel my membership to my gym today and in a little bit we are going to both join the Y!

Sounds aewsome! I'm kind of jealous! Our Y is like 20 minutes away and I just can't bring myself to pay the money knowing that I probably wouldn't go as much as I should!

That's great! I wish I lived close to a Y. My gym is ok but it doesn't have a pool and it's women only so I can't work out with Chris.

that is really great Hopefully with you both motivating eachother and having all these different forms of exercise, you will see some great results. For me, motivation and boredom are what stops me from exercising like I should.

Thats great! The biggest bonus to me about gyms and weighloss and staying in shape are the classes. I'm like a class fiend. I guess b/c in a lot of classes you can make friends which gives you more of a reason to continue to go to that class and stay on track. I'm not trying to lose weight anymore obviously but I still go to cardio/zumba classes b/c I like to dance and they're so much fun. Of course I have to alter most of the moves and take pee breaks but oh well.

Cant wait to hear about your progress. Have you set up a goal? I.e. working out 3x a week for 30 minutes, etc.

That's excellent! Swimming is great exercise, so if he likes that then it would be a great way to lose weight.

That is really awesome! I wish we went to the Y- our gym is really nice but the only pool is at the women's only gym and it is SOOOOO tiny I felt like I was swimming in my bathtub. This is the time of year to join up and take advantage of those great contracts!

That's great! We used to belong to the Y when I was pregnant with Loch and we got so much use out of the pool--Liam loved it and it was great for me being hugely pregnant and sore in the height of summer.

I think it's a wonderful option for you guys and swimming is such good exercise!
