Okay, so Amy and Resi both posted on my facebook that an update was needed, so I'm posting an update!
Let's see....in October, Chris lost his job. We thought he had one, but it was sorta weird the way it happened. He went to an interview, had a second interview the next day. He had to answer some questions for the company and email back his answers. That following Monday, they called him and said they wanted to offer a position to him, but they were offering it to him at a lower pay-rate because of his lack of experience in the field. We were both totally okay with this...it meant he had a job. Well the man that he spoke to about the position told him to call him back on Dec. 28th to confirm incase Chris found a job that paid more. Well, Chris told him that he would call back, but that he wouldn't be taking any other job. So Chris called back on Dec. 28th. The original guy that Chris spoke with told Chris that he had to check and see if higher management didn't fill his position. Well, the guy never called Chris back and never returned any of Chris' phone calls. So I told Chris to call the HR of the company himself and find out what's going on. So he calls them the next day, Dec. 29th and finds out that higher management decided to only higher one person out of the two...and Chris was the one that didn't get hired at that moment. So they told Chris to call back the 3rd week of January. So that is where we are with that.
To bridge the gap of Chris' unemployment, I'm working part time at the Children's Place again. Which has been sort of difficult. There are some new people and some that are the same from the previous time I worked there. Well one of the lady's that worked there before is now a "lead on duty" which is someone who fills in when a manager can't be there. Well, all of our manager have to take their PTO, so last Monday I had to work with the 'Lead on duty'. Her name is Tammy. Well, the shift started at 1pm and I went in to clock in...well, that time checker wasn't up on the computer so I had to go and tell the manager. Well, she snapped at me about that. So she left and it was just me and Tammy...Tammy stayed in the back for a while so I just picked up where the other associate left off...which was straightening the store and it was right after inventory so I started tucking tags back into garments. Store policy is when you fold a shirt, you use a board to fold it all in a uniform style. So I was using the board. Well, Tammy comes out from the back and says "In the interest of saving time...let's just fold along the creases." Okay...that's what I did. Well, it was only the two of us and neither of us is supposed to leave the store for safety issues....well, Tammy left me in the store alone to get a soda and a pretzel for her snack....since she's pregnant and I've been there twice...I understood.....and since she's above me, I couldn't really say "no." When she came back she says to me "You know I'm not supposed to leave you alone in the store right?" and I say "Yes, but I'm not in a position to tell you you can't leave."
So, she goes in the back and I'm assuming she eats her pretzel. When she comes out from the back, I'm ringing up a customer. A mom and her daughter, the daughter is about 9 or 10 and buys sunglasses. The mom buys a belt....total purchase for each is about $5 and change. We're supposed to ask if they want to open the store credit card and they can save 10%. Well, I didn't ask because their savings wouldn't be huge. Well Tammy comes to me and says "did you offer the card on either of those sales?" and I reply "no" and she says "you have to ask, no matter what." I say "Well, both only made $5 purchases." Tammy says "I don't care...you have to ask." I say "I'm pretty sure the child didn't qualify for the card." Tammy says "I don't care. You ask no matter what!" Okay...I agree to ask, no matter what. The rest of the night goes by pretty smoothly....except that she leaves me alone in the store a second time...to get her dinner. And I worked for 7 hours and she NEVER gave me a break. At the end of the night, she was counting the money in the registers and I was sweeping the store. Aparently, she left something she needed in the stock room...so she tells me that she has to go back and get something, leaving the cash on the counter...and I say 'okay.' Then, she yells from the back of the store (I'm at the front) "I know how much money is there!" Whoa...did she just imply that I'm going to steal, like, $18 and some change? So I yell back (in a snobby voice) "Don't worry, I'm not going to touch it!" So I finish sweeping and she calls me to the counter...aparently she left cash that had to be deposited into the bank in the drawer and she needs to get it out...so she says to me "Two things....one...you're not seeing this. And two...You're my witness." Umm....so, I'm witnessing something you're not supposed to be doing, but yet...I'm here to witness....what??? So I just felt so uncomfortable being there with her. So, I tell a manager what happened...and the manager told me, "because of who Tammy is, being a lead, nothing will be done about this." So I tell Chris that, and he told me to go to corporate....well, I don't know how to get ahold of corporate! So I think I'm out of luck there.
Edward and Preston are doing awesome!!! Preston is still breastfeeding....and Chris and I have made a collective decision not to vax the boys because in November, Preston got his shots and had a seizure. He was behind on his shots and was only supposed to get 6 shots and he got 8 total...two were combo....he was fine the whole day...we go to bed that night and we felt him have a seizure. Thank GOD he was in bed with us, because he didn't make a single sound, we just felt his body go stiff....we would have NEVER known if he slept in his own crib. Edward is doing well with the little homeschooling we are doing. He is learning to write the alphabet! And he's doing so well with that!!! With going back to work, I haven't had the time to do all that I want, but Chris is working with him while I'm gone. So that's my update....Here are some photos.
